Matthew Duell and Steve Chalfant are co-owners of Rolling Rentals, a travel trailer rental company with a bright future ahead. That said, these guys weren’t always RV people.

“I grew up tent camping,” Matthew tells us. “I met my wife and [discovered that] her parents had a camper. We went and visited them at the campground and I instantly fell in love. The next week I went and bought my first camper. Now we love being seasonal campers in south Jersey.”

That first camper is what started it all. Eventually, Matthew came across Outdoorsy, and that’s when a lightbulb went off. “I saw the potential for a business when I posted my personal camper on Outdoorsy,” Matthew recalls. “At that point, my buddy Steve and I bought a camper just to rent out.”

“We chose our rental camper—a 2022 Prime Time Avenger 26BK—because we liked the layout,” Matthew explains. “It has bunk beds with no slides. It’s big enough for a family and doesn’t weigh much. We also liked the added feature of the outside kitchen.”

Once the RV was in Matthew and Steve’s possession, the next step was to get some renters. “We listed on Outdoorsy because we knew it was the best way to rent out our camper,” Matthew says. “We feel safe renting our camper on Outdoorsy, and they make it so easy. We had our first booking within a week and have made $6,200 in about four months.”

The key to their success? Matthew really seems to care about his customers. “I have met a lot of people through Outdoorsy and they have all been awesome,” he tells us. “I love providing them with all of their camping needs. I hope our RV helps renters make memories with their families!”

Renters aren’t the only people Matthew and Steve have met through their business. They’ve also been able to make some community connections that have allowed them to give back. “This past week we had a local charity event for childhood cancer,” Matthew says. “The radio station WRAT 95.9 “The Rat” and the charity organization Ocean of Love have a Billboard Radiothon where they raise money for childhood cancer. Rolling Rentals donated our camper for this event.”

So far, Rolling Rentals has only had one RV to offer to renters and to donate for charity events in the community. However, that will change soon, as they are about to add a consignment RV to their fleet. Yes, this business is going places, and they’re going to make the world a better place while they’re at it!
