Destination Wedding? Take An RV!

The spring and summer wedding season is soon upon us, and before long the invitations will start arriving. Nearly 25% of weddings are held in May and June alone, so get ready to start humming “Here comes the bride.” If you are among the thousands of people who will travel this year to attend an out-of-town wedding, don’t book your airline tickets and hotel rooms just yet. Think outside the box and consider renting an RV instead! Here are five reasons for renting an RV might be the best solution for your spring and summer wedding travel needs.

5 Reasons to Choose an RV to Travel to an out-of-town wedding

Turn it into a road trip vacation

Chances are that you’ll need to take a few days off from work to attend the wedding no matter how you travel. Put your vacation days to better use by turning the trip there and back into a road trip vacation!

Rather than spending your travel days in an airport security line, hit the road and find interesting things to see and do along the way. You can visit someplace you have always wanted to go or find something off the beaten path that you’ve never heard of before. The website Only in Your State can help you discover hidden gems in any state along your journey. You never know what you will find on a road trip, so cue up your perfect road trip playlist and hit the road.2

Cut costs

Clothes, travel, gifts… sharing in your loved one’s big day can get expensive! You want to look your best, and no one wants to be stingy with gifts, so travel is the best way to cut costs. Driving is usually cheaper than flying, especially if two or more people travel together, and renting an RV can be big savings over the price of a hotel room and rental car combined.

An RV also gives you your own kitchen, which reduces the need to eat out for every meal and eliminates overpriced airport food.

Make yourself at home

After all your efforts planning and making the trip, you want to enjoy your time to the fullest. An RV gives you a comfortable “home away from home,” so you have a place to rest and relax. Grocery shopping and preparing your own meals will help you eat healthier and feel better than you would after a series of restaurant meals. You can bring your own pillow, sheets, blanket, or whatever helps you feel at home and sleep well. You can literally make yourself at home.

You can also move that home to beautiful places – wake up to a view of a forest or a lake instead of a hotel parking lot beside the interstate. Don’t underestimate the value of natural therapy to improve your mood and overall well-being. A home on wheels truly gives you the best of both worlds

Share with friends or family

Many RVs offer seating and sleeping space for the whole family. Maybe you have other friends or family planning to attend the same wedding. Extend the party and cut costs even more by traveling and RV camping together!

An RV road trip with a group can be a lot of fun! Just be sure to decide ahead of time who gets the master bedroom and who gets to ride shotgun. It’s also a good idea to have a plan for everyone to get ready for the wedding with just one tiny RV bathroom.

No designated driver needed

Depending on the location of the wedding and/or reception, you may be able to park the RV in the parking lot, not only during the event but overnight. This gives you the option to freshen up as needed, change clothes if desired, or just go home and put your feet up during the awkward time between the wedding and reception while the wedding party is taking pictures. If you can walk home after the party, then there’s no need for a designated driver to abstain from the open bar.

If spending the night at the event’s location is not an option, look for a convenient place nearby. Be sure you have permission to park overnight. There are lots of options for safe, legal places to park an RV for the night, so chances are good you’ll be able to park within walking distance.

Whether you’re celebrating the nuptials of your best friend from college or your second cousin that you haven’t seen since childhood, a wedding is a fun occasion and a great excuse to travel. Planning an RV vacation around the event, either alone or with a group, is fun, convenient, and cost-effective. Find your perfect RV rental and hit the road!
