Joanna Case is an outdoor adventurer who loves to camp and travel with her family in Chantilly, Virginia, where they live, and on journeys all over the U.S.
Joanna rents out their awesome Class A motorhome, a 2003 Fleetwood Flair nicknamed Harvey.
In this post, Joanne shares some of her favorite tips for travel around Chantilly, Virignia.
Outdoorsy asked Joanna for the most common 2-day itinerary of someone renting Harvey in Chantilly, Virginia (just 40 min outside of Washington DC). Here’s what she said:
It’s got to be tailgating at a football game. Or doing the Skyline drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We asked Joanna where she would send a friend visiting Chantilly for a fun outing.
She said: The Skyline drive is a must, especially at this time of year. I love the Shenandoah River State Park. And there’s always the Afton mountain near Charlottesville.
Outdoorsy: If you had a week off, what would be your #1 destination in your RV?
We just did our dream destination! We did a 10 night trip up the eastern seaboard with our 10 month new and 3 year new. We camped at hershey park for 2 nights, Lake Scroon in the Adirondacks for a night, Stowe VT for 2 nights and South VT right on Lake Champlain for 4 nights.
We absolutely love Vermont and it was awesome to have the chance to show it to our two boys. We want to instill in them a sense of adventure and love for nature while they’re young and mnewable!
Outdoorsy: What are the big events that people travel to Chantilly, Virginia for?
People travel here for the Lockn festival, which is great for RVing (and for Harvey). They love UMD and UVA football. Of course they travel for events in Downtown DC. And you can’t forget about the Nascar races in Richmond…
