<html><head></head><body>The security deposit is the magical money set aside to cover you should something go wrong. You decide how much this refundable deposit should be, and Outdoorsy collects it from the guest before their trip begins.
The security deposit is intended to cover any ancillary charges, such as cleaning fees, interior damage, etc. If the security deposit doesn’t cover the ancillary charges or damages, Outdoorsy can assist in bringing these to resolution.
If you don’t already have a number in mind, we recommend charging somewhere between $500 and $1,500 for the deposit. A higher deposit offers more protection, but be cautious about driving customers away. Consider the value of your listing: If you have a Class A luxury RV, you may want to charge a higher deposit than if you have a pop-up trailer.
Tip: The data shows that guests prefer listings with security deposits between $500 and $1,000 over listings with higher-valued security deposits.
How does the security deposit work?
If you need to dip into some or all of the deposit once a trip is over, be sure to claim that money within 7 days. You can manage this from your Bookings. Select the trip and then “Collect fees.”
If you don’t do anything, the deposit money gets automatically returned to your guest 7 days after their trip ends.
All claims against the security deposit are subject to a 2.95% processing fee and a host fee charge. Please also note that you can only collect from the security deposit once.&nbsp; See below for additional information on managing the security deposit.
What does the security deposit cover?
The security deposit covers any damage caused by the guest or guest’s party that is not covered by the Outdoorsy protection package.
This includes but is not limited to:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Cleaning or penalty fees as stated by the host prior to rental (ie. dump fee, re-fueling costs or excessive cleaning time / cost).</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Interior damage, such as broken cabinets or interior scratches.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Awning damage if awning use was not authorized by the host in the rental contract.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Damage due to illegal activities of any kind.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Missing items that were provided at the beginning of the rental.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Towing and repairs during the rental that are not covered by the protection package.</li>

What if I need to charge more than the security deposit covers?
This is one for the Outdoorsy support team. You’ll need documentation of all the additional charges, including the <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/rv-return-form-with-downloadable-pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">signed RV Return Form</a>. Go to your Outdoorsy dashboard and select “Collect fees” on the specific booking to claim the full security deposit. Then reach out to Outdoorsy support via phone, chat, or email and let them know that you have additional charges that are over the security deposit.
Once they’ve determined the validity of the charges, they’ll charge the guest and the payment will post to your account.
How does the security deposit apply to the deductible?
If Outdoorsy needs to collect a deductible from the guest as part of a covered claim, we may do so from the security deposit. For example, the guest owes a $500 deductible, and we held $500 as their security deposit. In this case, the security deposit goes to Outdoorsy as their deductible.
If you also need to collect from the security deposit, we’ll handle your payout first. This might happen, for example, if the guest owes you a $100 fee for excessive cleaning and a $150 fee for smoking. We’ll pay you $250 from their $500 security deposit. The remaining $250 from the security deposit will go toward their deductible. Leaving an additional $250 for the guest to pay as the deductible.
Please note: If the security deposit is released for any reason prior to the claim concluding, the guest will be responsible for the full deductible amount. The release of a security deposit does not represent the conclusion of an insurance claim investigation, and any ancillary charges or deductible charges may still be pursued.&nbsp;

How do I manage my security deposit (especially if I need to charge my guest after their trip)?

<html><head></head><body>When you complete the rental process, we ask that you please complete a thorough interior and exterior walkthrough with the renter. Take detailed notes and photos of all-new damage. This must be completed at the time of return. If you’re unable to meet with your renter, it must be done within 48 hours after the booking ends.
If the damage is minimal and within the amount of the renter’s security deposit, you can collect the necessary amount from the deposit. This can be done through the “Collect Fees” button under the corresponding booking on your dashboard. What happens in the event of a total loss?
While incredibly rare, having your RV totaled while it is out on a rental is certainly a concern for many owners on our platform. If you’re not sure what is owed and how it is determined, it can heighten these concerns. We hope to ease those worries with the information below!
What will I be paid?
Outdoorsy owes up to the actual cash value of your vehicle, with a maximum of $300,000. For our Canadian owners, you’ll be paid up to the actual cash value of your rig.
What is ACV, and how is it determined?
ACV stands for actual cash value. Generally, the ACV is determined by reviewing similar vehicles in your area to establish a baseline. Once a baseline is established, adjustments are made based on a number of variables, including the condition of your RV (prior to the loss), mileage, and customizations. Rest assured, all of the things that make your RV unique will be taken into account.
How does the total loss settlement work if I have a lienholder?
Once an ACV is determined, a payoff amount will need to be obtained from your lienholder. If the ACV is more than the amount owed to your lienholder, Outdoorsy will pay off your loan in full, and the leftover balance will be paid to you. If the ACV is less than the amount owed to your lienholder, Outdoorsy will pay the ACV to your lienholder, and the outstanding balance will need to be resolved between you and your lienholder. If the latter occurs, we suggest finding out if you purchased GAP insurance to cover the outstanding balance.
Can I keep my RV if it is deemed a total loss?
It depends. There are quite a few variables that go into whether or not you can keep your totaled RV. Such factors include the extent of the damage if you have a lienholder and the state in which you reside. (Note: Outdoorsy does not insure vehicles with a salvage title)

In order to receive the prize, the potential winner must return email communications with Outdoorsy’s team to set the delivery conditions of the prize. If the potential winner fails to respond to the email within 7 days or is found to be, in Outdoorsy’s sole discretion, ineligible or in violation of these Official Rules, such potential winner and his/her entry will be disqualified, and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.

By accepting the prize, the winner grants its permission for Outdoorsy to use the winner’s name, social media pseudonym and city and state for purposes of advertising and trade without further consent or compensation, unless prohibited by law.



Outdoorsy makes no representations or warranties whatsoever as to the ability to use the prize or to book and rent any particular vehicle or stay listed on the Outdoorsy.com platform. A winner making a booking on the Outdoorsy.com platform agrees that additional criteria may be imposed by the listed vehicle’s or stay’s owner. If the booking value exceeds the credited amount, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. All bookings on the Outdoorsy.com platform must fully comply with the terms and conditions and other policies therein.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Winner selection and notification:</h3>



As described in “How to Enter,” winners will be selected at the end of the Contest Period. The winners will be notified via email addresses provided on the submission. In order to receive the prize, the potential winner must return email communications with Outdoorsy’s team to set the delivery conditions of the prize. If the potential winner fails to respond to the email within 7 days or is found to be, in Outdoorsy’s sole discretion, ineligible or in violation of these Official Rules, such potential winner and his/her entry will be disqualified, and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries. Outdoorsy may request paperwork that the potential winner will be required to complete in order to be awarded the prize (including, but not limited to, a publicity release, tax documentation, drivers license information, evidence of insurability, and/or liability release). The failure to do so will render the potential winner ineligible.



If the potential winner is under the age of 25, they will need to be accompanied on their reward trip by a verified driver (verified in Outdoorsy’s sole discretion) over the age of 25 who will be responsible for being the driver of the vehicle during the rental period and who will be legally responsible for compliance with all terms and conditions related to accepting and using the prize, including the provision of paperwork and the releases and indemnifications described in these Official Rules. The prizes will be available for redemption until December 31, 2026. The receipt of the prize offered in this Contest by the potential winner is conditional upon compliance with these Official Rules and any and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">General Terms:</h3>



Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prizes. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest, or any part of it, if any virus, bugs, other technical failures, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond Outdoorsy’s control impair the administration, security, integrity, or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Outdoorsy in its sole discretion. Outdoorsy in its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify any entrant it finds to be tampering with or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and, should such an attempt be made, Outdoorsy reserves the right to seek damages from such persons to the fullest extent permitted by law. Outdoorsy’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that term.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Release and indemnification:</h3>



By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Limitation of Liability:</h3>



Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. This includes such failures that might result in more winners than planned are issued.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Disputes:</h3>



This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Social Media Content Usage:</h3>



Winners are encouraged to share photos and videos from their prize experience on social media. By posting content related to this giveaway and tagging participating brands, winners grant Outdoorsy, BarkBox, Sniffspot, Wilderdog and brand partners non-exclusive rights to repost, share, and feature such content across their respective social media platforms and marketing materials.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Privacy Policy:</h3>



Information submitted with an online entry is subject to the Privacy Policy stated on Outdoorsy’s website. Notwithstanding the foregoing, participants grant Outdoorsy the right to share your name and email address with with our participating partners.

No problemo. Depending on when your trip departs, different charges, like the security deposit, can occur at different times. As a result, you may want to update the payment method associated with your reservation. Here’s how to do that:



1.) Navigate to your <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/trips" target="_blank">trips page</a>



2.) Scroll down until you see a section regarding your ‘security deposit amount and timing’

How do I update my payment method?

Roamly has partnered with Sensible to provide a product that allows you to purchase coverage for the duration of your trip and be able to receive a refund in the event of bad weather.



Available in the U.S. only, for all RVs, this additional Roamly Weather Coverage provides protection for your trip in the event of unexpected bad weather. Possible coverage is based on information from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).



For example, if it rains more than the amount quoted (based on the NOAA day-of-forecast), then Sensible will automatically provide a refund to you, based on the current weather at the location of your trip.



When you initially purchase coverage from Roamly Weather, you will see some basic information outlining your coverage and its parameters:



What to expect:



A forecasted “light rain” of 1.5 mm, or more, for 3+ hours will trigger the daily coverage. We’ll alert you if bad weather is on the horizon. Don’t worry, we’ll only text you if it’s important – aka you have money available. Light rain is when you walk outside, and the ground looks like it’s been raining, think small puddles. 



How’s the coverage triggered?



3 – 6 hours of rain = $51.93/day 6+ hours of rain = $103.86/day



This is just an example of what you’ll see when you consider purchasing coverage. The expected forecast, details, and amount of possible refunds.&nbsp;



If the weather during your trip is considerably worse than anticipated, based on the previous NOAA forecast, Sensible will notify you via text message and issue reimbursement automatically!

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How do I purchase Roamly Weather Coverage?</h3>



Weather Coverage is offered when you make your reservation online for any stationary RV bookings where the RV is delivered and set up at a destination, or for campsite bookings, because the service requires an address to calculate the coverage.



You will also be able to purchase Weather Coverage after your booking is confirmed, from the Trips details page in your account.



Note! Roamly weather coverage can only be quoted and purchased for trips that are less than three months long.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Is Roamly Weather Coverage the same as Trip Protection?</h3>



No, Roamly Weather Coverage is a separate offering from both Trip Protection and Damage Protection.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How is the covered amount determined?</h3>



The covered amount is based on the total cost of your booking when coverage is purchased.&nbsp;



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How long do I have to purchase coverage?</h3>



Roamly Weather Coverage is available for purchase up until the day before your trip begins. If your trip starts today, you will not be able to purchase coverage.&nbsp;



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What happens if I change the dates of my trip?</h3>



Because coverage is based on a specific date range and forecast, if you change the dates of your trip then your Roamly Weather Coverage will be removed and need to be repurchased for your new trip dates.&nbsp;



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Can I cancel my Weather Coverage?</h3>



You have 24 hours after the purchase of Roamly Weather Coverage to cancel it. After 24 hours have passed, then coverage will not be able to be removed without canceling the booking.&nbsp;



Note! If Roamly Weather Coverage is added within 14 days of your booking’s start date, then the option to remove the coverage will not be available.&nbsp;



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What happens to my coverage if my booking is canceled?</h3>



If the booking is canceled prior to departure, then the entire cost of Roamly Weather Coverage will be refunded to you.&nbsp;



Note! If the booking is canceled on, or after, departure then Roamly Weather Coverage will be nonrefundable.&nbsp;
