Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument is a chilling reminder of the havoc that Mother Nature can bring. The 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens killed 57 people and caused the state over 1.1 billion dollars in damage. The site is now a massive wildlife refuge dedicated to research and recreation. Mount Rainier National Park is a fantastic place to stay in your Yakima motorhome rental, and you hardly have to drive far to reach it. The park has 236,000 acres, half of which are old growth forests full of ancient trees. Subalpine meadows with stunning wildflowers sit beneath the peak of majestic Mount Rainier, the tallest volcano in the state.
