2005 Chevrolet Express
Vincent is an extended Chevy Express conversion with a bright cozy cedar paneled interior. The van comfortably seats and sleeps two people in a double bed, with plenty of storage space for all your gear. The bed is configured to convert into either inward-facing seating to use with the fold-down table, or an outward facing sofa. The front passenger seat swivels to provide additional comfortable seating. The van is equipped with a 100W solar panel and a 100 Ah lithium battery which powers the lights, the fridge and a fan – when fully charged this allows you to remain off grid for 2-3 days. A fuel-efficient diesel heater keeps the van warm well into negative temperatures, and the vent-fan will keep you cool in summer. The van contains everything you need to cook and eat – a 2-burner gas stove can be connected to the large gas cylinder for indoor cooking or taken outdoors.Vincent is a normal-height white van, so from the outside is inconspicuous if parked in town. The curtains and window covers ensure privacy. However, you will not be able to stand up inside – everything is configured to be used sitting down!Note: our van’s bed was built to accommodate a couple who are 5’5” and 5’11”. We can sleep comfortably, but do not recommend this van for people over 6’ tall, unless you are travelling solo.Check out our Instagram @ camper(dot)converts to learn more about our van’s conversion and some great local adventures!

Hi! We're Natalie & Darragh, a Brit & an Aussie who have been living in Vancouver since 2018. Our van, Vincent, was a pandemic project - we bought an old van and turned it into our camper. You can see more about the conversion process on instagram - @camper.converts

Overall, great first vamping experience for us! Perfect way to explore Vancouver Island a bit. There were a few things that were a little rough around the edges with the van, but everything important was functional, and there were no issues with anything under the hood. These were a few of the things that came as a bit of a surprise when we showed up to pick up the van that I wish had been advertised a bit more accurately:
- The sliding door came unlatched a couple of times after hitting small bumps in the road, and we’d have to pull over to close the door
- The passenger seat was torn.
- The ice packs / cooler system only kept things cold for about 2 days, even when running the refrigeration when driving.
- The rubber door seal for the sliding door fell off a few times, and we had to put it back up.
- You have to use a provided padlock system to lock the doors if you leave the van, which wasn’t a huge deal, but it was a minor inconvenience at times.

Have a question?Get answers directly from the host
Q.I'm tall, will I be comfortable in your van?
A.
We recommend that the van be used by people under 6 feet tall. If you are over 6ft, you may be comfortable if you are traveling solo and can sleep on the diagonal!
Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
One of the owners works from home at the pick up / drop off location, so we may be able to be flexible. Please let us know what you're thinking, and we'll try to accommodate.
Q.Does the van have bathroom facilities?
A.
No. There is no toilet or shower in our van. Toilet paper and a trowel will be provided though!
Q.Did you convert the van yourselves?
A.
Yes we did!! Vincent was our pandemic project - we bought him as an old plumber's van in April 2021 and spent a little over a year designing and converting him into our comfortable camper. We're always happy to answer questions about the process - and you can check us out on instagram @camper.converts.
