Discover Prosper RV rentals for memorable road trips

The first north-Texas settlers arrived in the 1840s and proceeded to plant cotton on the rich, fertile soil where the town of Prosper would eventually be. At some point, the landowners defaulted on their loans, and the land reverted to the government. In 1876, the local government ordered the land to be sold to create communities for the settlers. Dr. A.T. Bryant purchased a majority of the land for about $3.50 per acre (roughly $84 in today’s dollar), and turned around and sold parcels to new residents. With the arrival of a railroad company who laid down tracks, the settlement was officially established in 1914, and the Texas town was given the name, Prosper.

Today, Prosper is an upper-class town that holds an annual festival, the Prosper Founders Fest, in May. Many pro athletes and entertainers live in Prosper. A shortlist includes Randy White, a Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame player, Todd Eldredge, a three-time Olympian, and Ann Ward, a winner of America’s Next Top Model.

The closest large town is Frisco, about nine miles south. The heart of Dallas, is a straight shot south, about 35 miles. Centrally located between these towns with several attractions and the outdoor parks for recreational fun, Prosper, TX, is an ideal place to rent an RV.

The Great Outdoors

Skip the leaky tents and rocky soil and use a camper trailer rental from Prosper, TX, for a good night’s sleep. Wake up to the sound of water lapping at the shores and birdsong in trees. Lewisville Lake is one of the largest lakes in Texas, clocking in at over 29,000 acres. Swim, parasail, sail, jet-ski, water-ski, and fish. Anglers can expect to catch an assortment of fish, including hybrid striped bass, white bass, crappie, and more. Charter guide boats recommend setting out very early in the morning before the party crowds arrive. One cove on the lake, near Westlake Park, is especially known for its party vibe. People flock to this region to blast music, dance and swim. Five out of six city-run campgrounds have hookups for a Prosper travel trailer rental, and there are several private campgrounds and RV parks with more amenities near the lake. Lacking a boat to join in on the recreational fun? Two marinas have boats available for rent, offering jet skis, party barges, kayaks, and several small motorboats.

Though this lake is geared toward water recreation activities, there are a couple of small parks with a few miles of hiking and biking trails. The LLELA Nature Preserve is the largest, encompassing a 2,000 acres. The trails cross through deep woods and wetlands, and many species of wildlife can be observed (and photographed). A few threatened or endangered species are known to make their home in this stretch of land, including the yellow-crowned night herons and red-cockaded woodpeckers.

A little further away from the city, and the crowds is Lake Ray Roberts. The lake has more elbow room to go around, and though it’s a popular destination, it doesn’t get quite as crowded, especially during the mid-week. It likewise has larger stretches of public parks with over 20 miles of multi-use trails. Note: Though there are beaches, they do not have lifeguards, while the Lewisville Lake’s beaches usually do have lifeguards on duty.

RV Parks

When you search for an RV in Prosper, TX, also plan for where you’ll park while you go on your adventures. This close to an urban area, street parking overnight is prohibited in many neighborhoods. There are several options within 30 miles, though.

Hidden Cove Park & Marina in Frisco is a large 700-acre campground. Most RV lots are shaded by tall trees, bringing some relief from the ever-present Texas heat. Most lots have full hookups, and those that don’t, include a sanitation station nearby.

Shady Creek RV Park in Aubrey, has several premier amenities like a posh dog park, swimming pool, and an elegant stone fireplace surrounded by Appalachian chairs, and free WiFi.

Exploring the City

Go exploring the Dallas suburbs and the farmlands beyond in the comforts of a Prosper motorhome rental. There are many attractions, some of which are unique to the Dallas Metro area. The Hawaiian Falls Waterpark is one of the best-rated parks in Texas. The splash-filled waterpark features several fun rides like twisting, looping water slides, lazy rivers, and a 65-foot-high body slide. Guests can learn how to surf, and “snowboard” on the water halfpipe. As a bonus, parking at The Colony location is free.

Crayola Experience in Plano has over 60,000 square feet of fun interactive activities that’ll entertain the whole family. Indulge in the inner artist and make a painting and drip artworks or learn how to draw a digital image. Climb through a Crayola-themed jungle. Learn about how Crayola’s crayons are made in the factory show and even help the foreman make a batch of crayons.

Walk on the wild side at the Dallas Zoo. The state of art facility has creatures from all around the world, including elephants, hippos, and tigers. The zoo also is a part of conservation efforts to bring back endangered animals. The resident endangered animals include the Tarangire Elephants, reticulated giraffes, and okapi. Guests can also elect to meet cheetahs up close or for a keeper encounter, in which they shadow a zookeeper as they feed the animals in their care and answer questions. The Dallas Zoo also regularly holds special events for both children and adults like Brew at Zoo and Safari Night Concerts (check online for the schedule).

Embark on an adventure of a lifetime in the perfect Prosper RV rental. Enjoy the warm Texas sun, wide-open plains, and local attractions galore.
