Built for two years only (1990 & 1991) the "Multivan" Westfalia combines the best, 7 passenger Vanagon seating layout with the convenience of a pop-top fiberglass roof and dual foldout beds above and below. There's a flip up table for in vehicle meals, and two, removable rear facing jump seats for the kids.Perfect for beach-bound weekend getaways with the fam or a couple's cruise up the coast, this vintage Westfalia camper has been lovingly restored and extensively upgraded throughout. The interior is pristine, in factory original fabrics, with heavy duty rubber mats for easy cleaning. This beauty has a rebuilt 2.1L waterboxer engine, an entirely new cooling system, an automatic transmission with an upgraded limited slip differential for better handling, oversize 16" wheels for greater stability, and upgraded front and rear disc brakes for improved safety. What's includedEach vintage VW Westfalia rental comes equipped with a valid "California Explorer" State Parks Pass ($195 value) which will get you free parking at all beaches operated by the California State Parks system as well as free day use entry into the parks themselves. Please note the pass is not valid for city operated beach parking or overnight camping, regardless of location.Want to rent surfboards or more camping gear? We've got you covered. Just check of the list of what you want (fees apply) and we'll handle the rest.Looking for something a little different? We have a fleet of six classic VW vans which you can check out here:https://www.outdoorsy.com/pro/170879Other things to noteThis vehicle has a 3 speed automatic transmission. Please keep in mind that this is a vintage rig, max highway speed is 65 mph, and even with all the upgrades and a perfectly tuned stock engine, the van is quite slow up hills (45-50 mph) and climbing steep grades should be avoided whenever possible. Please note that travel on or over the "grapevine" is strictly forbidden (the pass on the 5 freeway between LA and Bakersfield), so if you're traveling the coast, the 101 should be your route of choice. At its heart, a Westfalia is a compact, easy to drive, vehicle. However, it's important to note that in a "cab over" vehicle, the driver is positioned on top of, or "over" the wheels, vs. a standard passenger car where the front wheels are 2-3 feet in front of you. The difference completely changes how the vehicle handles, especially in turns, which takes some getting used to. The manual shift and the automatic versions are both a joy to drive, but please keep in mind that they are not performance vehicles - they are vintage beach cruisers and must be treated with love & care.No smoking at all (of any kind) inside the van, and pets are also not allowed.

My wife Amanda and I are the owners / founders of a small women's surf & swimwear brand called SEEA. Since moving to Southern California in 2010, we've been surfing at San Onofre and exploring the Pacific coast, from Baja up to Big Sur. We got our first VW in 2014, the same year our daughter was born. Since then, restoring VW's has been my main passion and hobby. Westfalia campers are truly unique vehicles, and there's simply nothing I like better than cruising the coast with my family in a well-tuned vintage van. As a natural extension of our own surf & travel adventures, the decision to share that stoke with others is a joyous one - so we're excited to introduce SAN-O VAN as a fun, alternative platform for your surf centric coast explorations.

We recently booked this beauty for a night at our favorite campsite, and to double as a nice prop for our engagement photos! The van was absolutely perfect - great condition, super clean, and one of the best nights of sleep we’ve had. We arranged a drop off delivery and Brian was super flexible with our times, very friendly and helpful with his instructions. We will 1000% be returning guests/customers.

WE WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! It gave us the weekend we needed... It made us slow down, take in the scenery, and tap into a rad California Beach Vibe Culture we have missed these days.
We drove up to Big Sur in this rad Camper. As we drove up the coast, we felt we were part of a club as we drove past other Westfalias giving us the waves and good vibes. The van was super clean, reliable, great sound system, super comfortable drive. We've camped in tents over 30x in our lives and this was the best night sleep I've ever had camping. Our 5 year old daughter couldn't get enough of the pop up tent. She played so many pretend games with her friends. Our other friends had loaded Sprinter Vans and we would not have traded our experience for theirs. It wasn't the overly overdone glamping techy kind of house on wheels that I felt our friends had. This was the perfect way to camp! Comfortable, warm, but also real camping! We are hooked and can't wait to take this van out for a weekend spin.. Thanks for the videos explaining everything about how the van, pop up top etc worked. It was easy peasy.. And so fun!!!!!

Brian was so helpful and went over absolutely everything you need to know about his vans. I felt super safe, he truly loves and cares for his vehicles. I would definitely rent from him again. The van was a dreamboat, no problems at all & easy to drive!
