Meet Marge the Monty, our 1998 Mitsubishi Montero. She’s a super capable overland vehicle that was built to ramble through the great outdoors. She’s more compact than our other rental, Daisy Mae, but can get you more places. She comes equipped with a full size 4” memory foam mattress. And you have options on where you sleep — sometimes you might want to camp in a low profile way and crash in the back of the truck peering out at the stars through the sunroof window. Other times, you may want to set up the tent that we include so that you have a bit more space to move around. Your call. We like to mix it up so some nights we’re tent camping, other nights we’re crashing in the back. The rig is also equipped with a stove, fridge, house battery, two awnings, and highly compact camp chairs, table and stool. In all our rentals we include complimentary spices, kitchen/cookware set, and teas. She’s an old lady truck and is a little pokey on the freeway at high speeds, but more than makes up for it when she returns to her natural habitat in the great outdoors. What's included- 2 camp chairs
- 1 small camp table/prep table
- 1 one-burner stove (fuel is extra)
- two person sleeping bag and pillows
- Cookware and utensils
- Shower set up available on request
- Small fridge
- House battery with USB plugs for charging devices
RecommendationsMarge was made to explore the areas around where we live in Southern California. She was originally built out near Zion in Southern Utah. Once we got her, we took her on her inaugural journey through Joshua Tree National Park and the Mojave National Preserve.Other places in the area that are worth checking out include: Kern River area, Sequoia National Park, Anza Borrego Desert State Park. There are great places for dispersed camping in the Alabama Hills and at the Trona Pinnacles, near Randsburg. Both of which are close to the gateway to Death Valley. If you keep going on the 395, you get to Bishop and Mammoth. Duck into the Sierra Nevadas from there and there’s no shortage of places to explore. If you have any questions about where to venture with Margie, just reach out. We love talking shop about slow roll adventures with our rigs :)Other things to noteWe have a couple rules that we ask you to read through prior to booking:- We don’t allow smoking, drugs, or unauthorized pets inside the vehicle.
- To bring a pet, please discuss that with us ahead of time and plan to purchase the Internal Damage insurance.
- By renting Marge, you agree to stay within the continental United States. Traveling to Canada or Mexico will result in the forfeiture of the entire security deposit and request for immediate return of the vehicle
- Off road use — the Monty is permitted to drive on forest service roads and similar unpaved, but grade roads. The Monty is not intended or allowed to be used in a true off-road setting. If you intend to use the truck on unpaved surfaces, this MUST be discussed ahead of time and written approval must be given. Any unauthorized or unapproved use is at your own risk and all costs associated with recovery, towing, repair, and damage shall be borne by the renter.
- To keep the full deposit, we expect Marge to be returned in the same condition that it was given to you. Any alternations, damages, or need for cleaning will be taken from the security deposit. This is one of our homes away from home, so please treat it with respect!
-If traveling to Burning Man, you will need to select the "Burning Man" add-on. There will be an additional $1,000 cleaning fee, and we will manually adjust the security deposit to $4,000.

Meet your host, Alia

Alia and Adam here! We've made Southern California our home since 2013 and love exploring the Southwest and beyond in our adventure rigs. We started Slow Roll Adventures as a way to share the love. We have two rentals available -- Daisy Mae, our camper van, and our latest -- Marge the trusted Montero. Named after our old lady foster pups, these rigs may be a bit old, but they're still quite fierce.

Marge was amazing! She had every convenience you could think of for camping: an awning for shade, storage room for a tent or a folding mattress, a 24/7 mini fridge, a water jug and bag, and a cooking area.
On the road she was pretty impressive and took the trip to Zion very well. Her gas tank is quite large so we only filled up a few times for the entire trip where gas prices were pretty low compared to California and didn't hurt our budget.
Alia and Adam were thorough with how to use Marge which was so helpful to not feel like a stranger to the car. They were flexible with pick up and drop off and we could not be more grateful with that.
They were also quick to respond to any questions or issues we had at the start and end of the trip. They even gave us tips on what trails would be worth it in Zion based on their experience. Top notch people. :)
We would say definitely consider Marge over other RV's or camper vans if you can, you won't be disappointed.

Q.What flexibility do you have for picking up and dropping off the truck?
    A.
When we don't have back-to-back rentals, we offer a flexible pick up & return policy, where we consider a rental period to be 24 hours: ie, your departure time is the time we expect the van to be returned on your return date. If you still need more time, we have two add-ons for more flexibility: 1) an authorized 5 hour late return option for $50, and 2) an authorized 5-24 hour late return for an extra $125. Please note, all late returns must be authorized to avoid incurring extra fees.

Q.What airport is closest to your location?
    A.
We're closest to Burbank airport (20 minutes, depending on traffic). LAX is about 25 miles away (30 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic). You can easily get a ride-share from either airport, or you could take the flyaway from LAX to Union Station in Downtown LA and then catch a ride share to our location.

Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the truck easily?
    A.
Lots! We'll go over some of the tips and tricks when you arrive for the pre-departure walk-through. This usually takes 30-60 minutes, depending on which features you plan to use in the truck. We'll also forward you our Marge's Manual which gives step-by-step directions on how to use some of the more complicated features of the rig.

Q.Can I leave my car at your house?
    A.
The short answer is that, yes, you may-- there's plenty of street parking here and it's safe. The longer answer is that LA has a strict 72 hour rule where you have to move a vehicle every 3 days. In addition, in South Pasadena you have to buy a street parking pass every three days. The parking permit is $2.60/day. We're more than happy to move your vehicle for you every 3 days and keep adding the parking pass as needed. Just get in touch to ask about it :)
