Working with the hosts was great- very responsive to messages and flexible when we ran into some flight delays. They have suggestions on itineraries and have everything you need included with the camper - camp chairs/table, cooking stuff, towels, campfire supplies, and more. That was great! We literally had everything we needed except for one small cooler we borrowed from a friend so our six pack would be ice cold. To my surprise, we needed the heater a couple of times overnight so that was a pretty great thing to have. Driving this camper was also no problem (admittedly, my husband did all the driving), but after a little time getting used to such a large truck, he said it wasn't a big deal. It ran like a champ and we never had any concerns despite its age. Having a large gas tank is really nice too. Being unrestricted from gravel roads gave us endless options. We ended up taking it on the Denali Hwy and were able to camp along the way which was an amazing experience. We didn't go far off the main road, but did take a wrong turn that was very rough but it wasn't really a concern. The biggest challenge we had was going in reverse or turning around (not a limitation of the camper of course, but just a learning curve thing). Setup and takedown is super easy and the "pop-up" nature of it probably makes it easier to handle than other camper trucks. We liked that low profile b/c we never had to worry about being too tall. It also has cassette toilet which looked fine although we opted not to use it - BLM sites have great facilities and in-between we just did as campers do. It is an older camper and we had a few issues with the camper itself, the major one being that the fridge didn't work well, but that wasn't really an issue until it got hot while we were in Fairbanks. If we had known, a larger cooler and some ice would've been all that was needed and it would've been totally fine. But this would definitely not deter me from renting it again and is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I was a little nervous with this type of "lodging" and transportation, but all I can say is DO IT! We put on just over 600 miles in 7 days and loved that this allowed us to be totally flexible and make our itinerary based on the weather. We only booked one thing ahead of time (Denali NP) and it was no problem at any of the BLM sites we saw. Such a great experience.

I can't thank Mike and Stephine enough for turning my Alaska trip into an unforgettable adventure. From the planning stage to the journey itself, they offered invaluable suggestions for exploring Alaska within my timeframe. I embarked on a road trip starting from Fairbanks, driving down Richardson Highway, and camped at some beautiful spots. Tangle Lake at Paxton was a highlight! Then it was off to Valdez, where I caught a ferry to Whittier. Along the way, I had the opportunity to explore Kenai Fjords National Park in Seward. I even made a pit stop in Anchorage to hang out with a fellow traveler I met. And of course, the majestic Denali National Park was an absolute highlight. As my trip wound down, I soaked in the stunning fall foliage up Steese Highway. Throughout the journey, Mike and Stephine were super communicative and helpful, always there for my questions. The handoff of the camper truck, "Blue," was seamless. And Blue itself? A champ in all weather conditions and road types. Huge thanks to Mike, Stephine, and Blue for making my Alaskan adventure truly epic!

Arctic Overland did help us in a great way when we had issues in the middle of nowhere. The camper truck is equipped with everything it needs to have a good time exploring the less crowded places of Alaska and very robust and sturdy - exactly right for the Dalton road.

Blue is the best!!! We are so happy we found this website and these hosts. Mike and Steph were thorough, helpful, responsive, and nice. They spent a good amount of time with us running thru systems as well as tips on driving the Dalton Highway and must see stops. We felt safe and comfortable in this truck our whole way up the Dalton. We camped on the side of the road in turnouts as well as campgrounds. Every night was cozy in this truck. It is equipped with everything you need and nothing you don’t. The bed was comfy, awesome to have the little toilet when the bugs were fierce, earplugs provided for the diesel noise, just the right amount of kitchen gear, and little extras that made a huge difference like chairs, hiking poles, ziplocks, garbage bags, spices, etc… We can’t imagine taking this trip any other way. Thank you so much! We will recommend this site and Blue to others. A great trip to Alaska :)
