Rental Rules
Driving
Only approved drivers listed on the rental may drive. Drivers must be [25+] with a valid license and a clean record.
Check the van’s height before you go. It has a rooftop A/C unit and 11 ft. clearance, so watch drive-thrus, parking garages, and low branches.
It’s AWD and ready for dirt roads, gravel, and campground tracks, but it isn’t a rock crawler. No deep sand, mud bogs, or river crossings, and no driving on beaches unless prior approval is given.
Fuel: return the van at the same level as pickup. Diesel fuel only.
Camping and living
No smoking or vaping anywhere in or on the van.
Up to 2 dogs allowed. No cats.
Maximum of 2 passengers while driving, based on availability of 2 legal seatbelts.
Empty the grey water tank only at designated dump stations or approved sites. Never dump it on the ground.
Use the outdoor shower with biodegradable soap only.
Start the Espar heater with at least a quarter tank of fuel, and don’t run it in an enclosed space like a garage.
Please don’t cook inside with an open flame. We have included an induction cooktop for indoor cooking.
Don’t remove or relocate the Starlink, solar panel, or other mounted equipment.
Power
Use the 30A shore power connection at campgrounds when it’s available. It keeps the battery full for off-grid days.
Running multiple heavy appliances at the same time will drain the battery quickly. We’ll walk you through the power system at pickup.
Cleaning and return
Return the van reasonably clean: trash out, dishes washed, fridge emptied, floors swept, and the sink and outdoor shower rinsed.
A cleaning fee of [$X] applies if it comes back excessively dirty.
Return fresh water and grey water tanks [empty / as agreed].
Late returns are charged at [$X per hour/day]. Let us know early if your plans change.
Safety
Always lock the van when you leave it, and don’t leave valuables in view.
Report any damage, accident, or mechanical problem to us right away, including on the road.
