Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.

If you think this small town in northern New Mexico sounds familiar, you would be right. It claimed its infamous place in history as being the location where the atomic bomb was originally developed. Santa Fe, the state's capital, is the nearest large town, and lies around 30 miles to the southeast. The much larger city of Albuquerque, is around 100 miles to the southwest, and Carson National Forest is less than 65 miles north.
Los Alamos, NM is found in a bit of a unique location, as it is surrounded by a forested, mountainous region, in this otherwise arid state. Due to this, several national forests surround the local area, all which provide plenty of recreational opportunities. National Monuments, museums and other natural and historical sites offer plenty of other opportunities for exploring. There are also plenty of local restaurants available nearby, each with their own unique flavor, as this state is known for its green chiles.
