RecommendationsWe have a whole host of ideas to take this camper in Colorado. It is a more rugged camper so you can take it on moderately rough roads if you go slow. We love to take it mountain biking, hiking, and fishing. Its lower profile makes towing it much easier! If you need ideas, we have them. Other things to noteYou must have a 7-pin trailer connector on your car as this trailer has its own brakes, which you will want in the mountains. If you use the bathroom please tell us, we will need to empty it (included in the cleaning fee). There is a very helpful instruction guide that we put together that is in the trailer, along with the user manuals for all appliances. We send a small tool kit along with the trailer just in case you need it.We use this trailer on the weekends it is not booked, so please try to treat it with the respect we do! We dont mind having to fix little things, these trailers always seem to have some little thing broken here and there.Full user manual: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zoD8gopymydmfsMpfmPHuoaTXw56UVWO1U3g8mgucCE/edit?usp=sharing

Meet your host, Jim

My wife, myself, and our little dog Henry got the camper to help make camping in Colorado a bit more convenient. We've been here 8 years now and feel like we've seen so many great places. Hopefully sharing the camper with you helps you get out there and explore!

This was a great camper! So much roomier than you'd think and very simple to use. Lots of storage. Comfy beds. Heater was nice to use on a cold night and the awning came in handy during a rainy night. We like it so much, we may have to get our own. Highly recommend!

Jim was flexible and informative. Everything was as he described. The mantis was wonderful to camp in and nice and warm during the cold fall nights in Nathrop.

Jim’s answer

Thanks for taking such great care of the Mantis! Looking forward to helping you on future adventures!

Our experience with the TAXA Mantis was literally perfect. Jim was super easy to work with and very thorough with his overview of the features the Mantis has to offer. The vehicle itself was easy to tow and maneuver, extremely easy to set up and served as the perfect base camp as we encountered a variety of weather conditions without any issues. I will definitely be renting from Jim for all of our camping adventures moving forward!

Jim’s answer

We are so glad you liked it! Can't wait to share it again!

Jim’s hospitality and thoughtfulness were as nice as the trailer itself. Our family of 4 stayed in Rocky Mountain National park for 4 nights and the trailer was a nice upgrade from our roof top tent that we own. The top bunk was a little smaller so we hooked a hammock up on the inside and it was a great pivot for a comfortable nights rest. Jim, with his experience, provided everything we would never have even thought to bring which made the trip far more enjoyable for us amateurs.

Jim’s answer

Thanks Steve! I'm glad the hammock worked out!

It was my family’s first time hauling a camper trailer, so I was initially intimidated renting one. Thankfully, Jim was very helpful and provided very thorough instructions. The Taxa Mantis camping trailer was the perfect size for our family of three. I highly recommend this trailer and appreciated Jim’s hospitality.

Jim’s answer

Thanks Eric! We are so glad we could share the Mantis with your family.

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
Just send me a note, if I can accommodate your needs, I am happy to!

Q.What kind of trailer connection do I need?
A.
You need a standard 7-blade receiver on your vehicle with a 2-inch ball. You can borrow our hitch if needed.

Q.Does the trailer have its own brakes?
A.
Yes. If your car does not have a brake controller, its ok! The trailer has an Autowbrake installed which will control the trailer brakes if there is no brake controller. If your vehicle has a brake controller, the trailer uses that.

Q.What kind of car do I need to tow this trailer?
A.
We've used our 2018 Toyota Highlander LE 3.5L V6 AWD SUV for an entire year towing the trailer in the rocky mountains and it handled it fine. Recently, we upgraded to an F-150 which tows it as if its not even attached. Taxa makes its trailers so smaller cars can tow them, but I would recommend having at least a V6 for towing this particular camper when fully loaded.
