Meet your host, Andrew

Member since 2021

I moved to Kauai in early 2023 from San Diego after visiting the island for just a few days in 2022. Since then, it has been an amazing home and I'm still not done exploring everything there is to offer. I love sharing my van with first-time visitors and island regulars/residents. Please let me know if you'd like help deciding what to do and places to see!

Wonderful Van, awesome stay! Andrew was always very quick to communicate and met us at the airport the morning of our flight home for easy drop off.

No issues at all with Andrew or his van. He was very quick to reply with any questions we had during our rental. His van was great and made our Hawaiian vacation a memorable one!

Andrew was a great host. He was gracious and generous with his time prior to us leaving, and gave us very good advice for things to do on the island. The van itself was easy to drive, very clean and has all the amenities you could want. Loved having the mobility it offered and it’s truly the best way to see Kauai! Thank you Andrew!

We had a great time using this van on Kauai. Andrew was very accommodating. Before, during and after the trip. We had some concerns about the van being too warm, and he ensured us about the fans and mosquito net (so we could the back door open during the night. Since Kauai is not that big, it was also easy to stop by his place for a quick fix.
We definitely had to get used to the van life, but it definitely grew on us. We visited several campsites around Kauai: Kumu, Anini and Salt Pond. Kumu is the only private campground, but it's location is further from the best spots. Its great you can stay at the state beach parks, but you will have to be okay with a more parking lot experience and no private showers (showers are also cold, but to be honest with Hawaii's weather you don't really realize it).
Thanks to the provided gas and the coolbox, we were able to make our own breakfast every morning. The battery of the van seems to last forever, we could comfortably keep everything running during the day or night without worrying about power.
Due to my length as tall dutch guy (6ft3) I opted for the extra sleeping pad in the center aisle. We also made a lot of use of beach umbrella as add-on extra.

Andrew has an awesome van! Drives like a dream and has everything you will need. He was easy to communicate with and great overall. We would definitely do this again and I recommend to anyone wanting a cool experience!

Have a question?Get answers directly from the host

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
I am very flexible with pick-up and drop-off times. Outdoorsy defaults to 3pm pick-ups and 11am drop-offs, but I can schedule around your arrival and departure flights (if applicable)

Q.Are there any campgrounds where we shouldn't stay?
A.
Lydgate Beach Park and Ahukini State Park are both areas I would avoid camping for the night. Even during the day there are thefts. Anini and Salt Pond are two of my favorites to camp!

Q.How does using the bathroom work in this camper?
A.
Starting Jan 2024, I will have a portable toilet available as an add-on for $30. Most renters find the public restrooms and showers at the campgrounds and beaches work for their trip, but if you'd like one for peace of mind please to so! Emptying the portable toilet will be the renter's responsibility.
