Big Bertha

We had an awesome time traveling in Big Bertha! The van had all the amenities we were looking for, with plenty of storage space to keep everything organized throughout the trip. We especially appreciated the multiple shower options — it made things super convenient while on the road. Wilson, the host, was incredibly helpful and accommodating, making sure all our requests were taken care of and communication was smooth from start to finish. A couple of small notes: if you’re taller than about 5'10", the bed can feel a bit cramped, and the air conditioning could use a little improvement on hotter days. Other than that, everything worked great and we really enjoyed the experience. Overall, Big Bertha was the perfect companion for our trip — comfortable, well-equipped, and full of character.

Zunächst einmal möchten wir uns bei unserem Host, Wilson, bedanken. Er ist ein super freundlicher Kerl und man merkt, dass er Big Bertha wirklich gern hat und ihm daher auch viel daran liegt dass man eine tolle Zeit mit ihr hat. Die Kommunikation, wie auch die Abholung und Rückgabe haben einwandfrei geklappt und bei Fragen steht Wilson einem gerne und schnell zur Verfügung. Über unsere Reise an sich können wir ebenfalls nur Gutes berichten! Bertha hat uns vier Nächte lang ein super zu Hause geboten und uns überall hin gebracht wo wir hin wollten. Sie ist liebevoll eingerichtet und es fehlt einem wirklich an nichts! Das einzige was es für mich als große Person etwas schwierig gemacht hat, war die Länge des Bettes. Wenn man alleine reist sollte das kein Problem sein, dann kann man sich einfach quer legen. Reist man allerdings zu zweit, kann es nachts dann zum Teil eng werden. Da wir vor unserer Reise öfter gehört haben, dass wildcampen auf Oahu grundsätzlich verboten ist und auch oft davon abgeraten wird, haben wir uns schöne Farmstays auf Hipcamp gemietet, wo man wirklich sehr idyllisch und wunderschön auch für kleines Geld stehen und übernachten darf. Insgesamt hat uns die Zeit mit Bertha sehr gefallen und wir würden den Trip mit ihr jederzeit wiederholen und weiterempfehlen!

We spent a whole week in Big Bertha and absolutely loved it! The van was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for our Oahu adventure. It was the perfect balance between freedom and convenience – we could park close to the beach and rest after a full day of exploring. Sleeping in the van was surprisingly cozy and we felt safe. If you want a unique way to experience the island, I definitely recommend renting Big Bertha – it gave us an unforgettable week in Hawaii!🌴 Mahalo🌺
