Review summary

Responsive communication, prompt help

Jake consistently responds quickly to messages and issues, offering solutions like reimbursements or advice. Guests praise his above-par communication and helpfulness throughout the rental process.

Drives smoothly, but mechanical problems

The van drives well with good power and fuel efficiency; however, multiple guests reported unpredictable transmission lurching and a check engine light. Key amenities were sometimes missing, inconsistent, or unclean upon pickup.

Overall an adventure to remember! Quick communication and a solid drive. We had a fun trip overall! The van itself runs beautifully—it has plenty of engine power and surprisingly great fuel efficiency for its size. It drives well, and the backup camera made maneuvering a breeze. The style is great and it came well-supplied with almost everything listed. A few things for future renters to note: The Bed: The listing mentions a queen-size bed, but it is definitely smaller. I’m 5'3" and my partner is 5'6"; as side-sleepers, we made it work, but we couldn't fully stretch out. Taller individuals or back-sleepers might find it tight! Amenities: A couple of minor items from the listing (like the camp lights) weren't in the van, and a quick, simple user manual would be a huge help, especially for operating the solar panels. It was clear the van had a very tight turnaround from the previous rental, so there were a few minor housekeeping and maintenance items that needed attention, which we passed along directly to the host. The owner was incredibly nice and easy to communicate with throughout the process. It served its purpose well for our journey, and with a little routine maintenance between trips, it’s a great option!

Had a lovely week trip to Mammoth Lakes, CA with my kiddo and dogs! The van kept us warm when it was very cold and cool when it was very hot and even allowed us to keep the dogs in the van without worry (I set up a fan and put out water of course) while we went horseback riding in the high desert. Had to drop one star for mechanical because the transmission lurched unpredictably and the countertop not being secure as it threw our stuff all over during a turn and things broke. I was able to bungee it, though, to keep that from happening again. Jake was great and very responsive! Would rent again! Had a great time!

Overall, Jake was communicative. However, the van did not feel adequately prepared for renters, the cleanliness fell well below expectations, and the transmission issue created unnecessary stress during our vacation. With better preparation, maintenance, and attention to detail, this could be a much better rental experience. As it stands, we left feeling that the listing promised more than the actual experience delivered. Check-in was contactless, so there was no walkthrough of the van or its systems. We later discovered several missing or incomplete items that would have been easier to address during a walkthrough. The van did not have adequate bedding for more than 1 person. There was no propane provided for the grill. Jake did offer reimbursement for us to purchase these items ourselves when we reached out. The instruction booklet was more of a listing of items in the van. The Jackery battery was about 20% charged at pickup. The listing mentions shore power capability, but no power outlets inside the van and no cables to use it. The LED cabin lights had dead batteries and never worked during our trip. The kitchen setup was a major disappointment. The provided utensils and cookware were extremely limited, and more concerning, everything was dirty. The dishes, cookware, and cabinet interiors all needed cleaning before use. The water tank was empty, and the water dispenser and hose were stored loose inside the dirty cabinets. Because of sanitation and difficulty finding a convenient place to fill the tank, we ended up purchasing bottled water for the trip instead. There were no matches or lighter included to ignite the propane stove. The van jolted noticeably while changing gears. We assumed this was a known characteristic of the vehicle. During the final two days of our trip, the check engine light came on. A quick code read indicated a transmission-related issue. Jake responded quickly when we informed him, but we felt our concerns were minimized.

Had lots of fun and an amazing time with this van, my favorite part was the generator! Extremely helpful with charging all of our devices! The heater was also a blessing in that cold!

My name is Yacoob (Jake)! I started out as a passionate outdoor enthusiast, with a heart that beats for the thrill of hiking, snowboarding, and everything nature has to offer. Fueled by this insatiable love for the outdoors, I embarked on a journey that would soon become a passion! It all began with a humble dream – crafting vans that perfectly melded with the rugged landscapes I adored. Building these vans for personal adventures, using sustainable materials, my creations caught the attention of fellow nature aficionados. Enthusiasm grew, as admiration turned into demand. Seeing the genuine appreciation for my work, I took a leap of faith and transformed a personal endeavor into a mission to share the beauty of the outdoors with the world. With unwavering commitment and a heartwarming desire to make outdoor exploration accessible to all, I now have took personal time to pour my heart and soul into crafting affordable vans that mirror the very essence of nature's splendor. Every build tells a story, a tale of passion, sustainability, and the unbreakable bond between humans and the great outdoors.
