1996 Toyota Other
Edward is a 1996 Toyota Hi Ace Cruising Cabin. The van is an automatic transmission so it's easy to drive, is 2-wheel drive and runs on diesel. It's great on fuel as well, getting about 20-25 miles per gallon. Originally converted to a camper by Toyota in Japan, Ruro Motorworks (IG: @ruro_motorworks) took this platform and added modern conveniences and updated its aesthetic. It's also worth noting that since this van came from Japan, the steering wheel is on the right side of the vehicle. Don't worry, its easy enough to get used to within a 10 minute orientation or so.At its most basic, the van has a single burner butane stove, cold indoor sink, 12V refrigerator, Marshall Bluetooth speaker, and is equipped with a 7" entertainment console for movies/tv shows and also operates apple carplay or android auto for music and navigation. If you struggle to get out of bed in the morning, don't worry as we also include a burr grinder and french press for your morning brew!
Edward sleeps up to 4 adults, 2 downstairs where the bench seating converts into a full size bed, and 2 upstairs in the pop-top tent. It is also outfitted with silverware, dinnerware, cookware, cooking utensils, sleeping bags and mats, Pendleton pillows and blankets. Everything you need to enjoy your time wherever you end up! Just stock the fridge and dry food storage and head out!

This was such an amazing experience! Darin made it really easy with staying in contact Incase I had any questions or concerns. Driving on the right hand side doesn’t take too long at all to get used to. I would highly recommend renting from him, I’ll be renting again next year for sure. I hope your new shop comes out amazing Darin!

This van is the literal BEST. Impeccably maintained and clean, so thoughtfully stocked, easy drop off and pick up, and the host (D) was super easy to communicate and coordinate with. All said and done, this van was a DREAM! Can't wait to rent it again.

We had rented larger vans previously, but wanted to try something more unique to explore the PNW. This van definitely fit the vibe-check when we were searching/reserving the vehicle, but it exceeded our expectations over the course of the week! The van turned lots of heads and started many conversations! Darin is attentive, responsive and accommodating - I definitely would not hesitate to rent from RURO Motorworks again! All in all, we very much enjoyed the entire rental experience.

We had an amazing time in this vehicle and my gratitude for our experience is through the roof. It was an interesting adjustment getting used to the right hand driver's side and switching the blinker and turn signal. But after accidentally turning on my windshield wipers a few times, the change quickly became normal.

We had a phenomenal experience! It was legit life changing for us, we have always dreamed of owning a camper and this validated that we can not wait to own a van like this! Darin is such a genuine and kind human he goes above and beyond to ensure you have an awesome adventure! Everyone on our trip now wants a van of their own and we are already planning our next trip to rent from him again! You can tell he loves what he does and that he truly cares about creating core memories for his customers! Thank you so much for allowing people to experience the van life, it is magic!

We had an amazing trip in Edward. The right-hand drive was really easy to get the hang of, and the pop-top tent and sleeping mattress provided made for some of the best sleep we’ve ever gotten on a camping trip.
