Hi Caleb,I read the review you left for our trip this past weekend. It is troubling and unfortunate to be met with those kind of dishonest and baseless statements that you made against me and my wife.The most surprising part of this is the claim that that we lied about damages. I spent over two hours just inspecting the vehicle for any issues to report before returning it to you, not including washing the exterior and fully cleaning the interior cabin. You will recall, as both my wife and I do, that I brought the chipped windshield to your attention during drop-off with the assumption that it was from our trip. You will also recall saying to me, "Don't worry, that was already there."Instead, I am astounded to find that you made claims to insurance for the existing windshield damage as well as other items.The windshield was, in fact, the one issue that I noted for potential damage for you to review. Keeping inline with due dilligence and in good faith I made sure to meet with you during drop-off so we could look over my findings. Again, I was told that this chipped windshield was pre-existing damage. It is dishonest to assert that the existing chip in the windshield is our liability. This kind of deceptive claim, when made to the insurance company, is also called 'insurance fraud' and is a serious matter.It was in order to avoid this sort of situation that I made sure to take the time to meet with you in person and look over the vehicle, providing the opportunity to address any issues accordingly and in real time.It is correct that we returned the rental late and this was entirely my fault. My wife called you immediately once we realized my mistake in reviewing the itinerary so that we could inform you of our status and the situation. I was thankful when you gave us assurance thast the late return was not a problem. Your response was along the lines of, "I'm happy to work with you. Just relax and don't worry too much about it." We offered and even insisted on returning the vehicle to you later that night but you once again reassured us that it was not a big deal and we could return it in the morning for the rightfully incurred late fee. We returned the vehichle at 10am the next day and we were charged the expected late fee. There should be no need for making defamatory and malicious remarks in a review regarding this matter when it was resolved before the vehicle was returned.What's more concerning is the new charge for $200 that was requested from us stating we had not empytied the black water tank (cassette toilet). This is, again, an unsettling and dishonest claim. In speaking with you on the phone we determined that we would empty the tank rather than pay the fee. We proceeded to empty the tank as requested, even watching a YouTube video on the exact process. This is indisputable fact. The 20 minute experience of draining raw sewage from a plastic bin was certainly not a hallucination and, unfortunately, won't soon be forgotten. The activity was also recorded by my apartment's CCTV as we rolled the cassette into the first floor restroom and back out again. Please recall that we also attempted to reach you several times in effort to resolve our late arrival and any other potential issues but found you to be mostly unresponsive.It is most disturbing and disappointing is that a feedback review form was selected as an appropriate channel for conflict resolution. The disparaging remarks on my character coupled with the filing of false insurance claims, rather than just talking to us directly or simply working through the official dispute system, is malicious and feels harrassing. As one of this community's newest members, this is the opposite experience of a friendly or warm welcome. Wwitnessing this sort of behavior, either directed at me or any other member, makes me apprehensive to plan any future rentals where I might end up being harrassed again and receive attacks on my character in front of the entire community. This is especially disappointing when my wife and I put in our care and attention to the effort of cleanup and accounting for all of the items on the drop-off list.Caleb, I was truly sorry to hear that you were looking to sell the van next year after I asked how you enjoyed having it. I responded with, "It has to be bringing in some good revenue?" to which you replied, "Not really, but yeah, some revenue...." I sincerely hope and don't want to believe that this was any sort of foreshadowing or implication about there being any possiblity of abuse in the renter / rentee trust relationship that could result in a financial offsetting of some maintenance cost for the rental.I'll finish this by saying that I send peace and love in your way. I hope you are able to find relief from the stresses might be causing the headaches you mentioned in your review. A cup of herbal tea and/or a half hour of meditation after your son goes to sleep are a couple of ways to help relieve many side effects of the emotional and mental burdens that we all experience in this world.
