Wanda (short for Juan de Fuca the Wondervan) was originally custom built to be the perfect mobile ski cabin. Incredibly well insulated, and equipped with an externally vented propane heater, this van can dry gear and keep you cozy even with outside temperatures of -20 C. The insulation does it's job in the summertime as well, keeping the van cool and comfortable day and night. There is a ceiling fan vented to the outside that you can set to intake or exhaust, and hatch windows at the head of the bed to keep a stream of fresh air throughout the night. For the Winter 2025/2026 season, Wanda will be kept at Mount Washington Alpine Resort and act as a tiny ski cabin/hut. This enables you to drive your own vehicle up the mountain, rather than taking on snowy conditions in an unfamiliar vehicle. If you want to take your glamping to the next level, check out my other campervan and consider it for an even more luxurious stay:

We had a great experience with the ‘Juan de Fuca’ van and Keira! We rented the Van for 10 nights in September. Keira was very kind and great to communicate with. She was always quick to reply to messages, and kindly provided us with a detailed message on recommendations and tips which was super helpful! The van had everything we needed and is set up great! All we had to bring along was clothes and food. Bed was super comfy, the cooker and fridge/cooler worked well, there was plenty of room under the bed for storing things, it was a consistently good temperature inside the van and surprisingly easy on gas for a V8. We highly recommend and will definitively rent again in future. Thanks Keira 🙏😊

Keira and her campervan Wanda were absolutely delightful. Wanda is much more adorable in person - from the fairy lights to the knitted decor and matching throw pillows and accented towels. It was very comfortable and tranquil to sleep in. This van has everything you need, don't worry about packing much else. The tires on Wanda are also very impressive, and allows you to do a bit more rugid camping if needed. This van had more than we had asked for. Keira as a host was even better. Her communication was great and she offered lots of flexibility for our trip. Each trip itinerary is unique and so this was extremely appreciated and helped us make the most of our adventure. Beyond the itinerary, Keira was very kind, agreeable and patient with us during the check-out process. If she'd have us again we would definitely rent from her again. Thanks for the awesome trip!

Frequently asked questions

Q.

Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?

A.

I will supply you with a comprehensive list for operating the van, and everything in the van for your trip, as well as walking you through anything you'd like help with during the key handover. No need to stress!

Q.

What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?

A.

My current schedule allows me to be quite flexible with pick and drop off times. I know flights and ferries get delayed so again, no need to stress! I can accommodate a changing schedule, just keep me updated :)

Q.

What is supplied for making coffee?

A.

A critical question! I supply a Hario V60 pour over coffee setup. Perfect for anyone from the low maintenance coffee drinker to the coffee enthusiast. Please supply your own pre-ground beans!

Q.

How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?

A.

The house battery charges automatically while you drive, which is often to keep the battery fully charged. If you're not doing much driving, you can choose to set up the portable solar panel in the sun to top up the battery, or plug the AC to DC charger into a standard outlet. I supply a 50 ft hose to easily top up the 5 gallon fresh water jug as needed. The 5 gallon grey water tank can be removed and dumped when needed.

Hi there, My name is Keira. I've been fortunate enough to spend my whole life on Vancouver Island, enjoying all of the outdoor activities that this beautiful place has to offer since a young age. Surfing, skiing, mountain biking, road riding, trail running, hiking and more! I originally built out a campevan for personal use, but quickly decided I wanted to share my van with others so they too could experience van life on Vancouver Island, and have a little taste of this incredible place I call home. As a mechanical engineer and the builder of my vans, I know them inside and out, and take great pride in every detail of the build. I'm more than happy to answer any questions about the vans that you need to have the confidence to book a trip, and would also love to provide trip recommendations based on your favourite activities! I look forward to hearing from you, Keira @lowtide_vans
