Flexible, responsive, and helpful

Jarca communicates quickly and clearly, offers thorough explanations, and is flexible with early returns or forgotten items. Guests appreciate her friendly and welcoming approach.

Manageable to drive and park

Despite its age, the van is reliable, easy to drive, and parks like a regular car. It includes a comfortable bed, cooking equipment, cooler, and basic camping gear for two.

We had a wonderful time in Banff National Park with the van! We really appreciated that it was budget-friendly. It’s an old van, sure, nothing fancy and luxury but it was what we needed. We didn’t use the bed-set up as a bench but we generally configured the set up like that during the day to have more room for our bags and access the kitchen stuff. There is a cigarette-lighter plug to charge phones, but you have to bring your cable. We had no problem charging our phone during the trip. The cooler was very convenient, you have to consider buying ice during the trip. We found a big ice block in Canmore (Safeway grocery store) but nowhere else (other stores only had ice chips/cubes which doesn’t last long). The little camping table and chairs in the rooftop storage were convenient. And the kitchen stove worked well. We also had one bath towel provided per person. We went in early July and we recommend that you ask Jarca for an extra blanket as it was pretty chilly for some nights and the provided blanket is kind of thin (which is good for warmer nights tho). The pillows are very thin and kind of crumbly (like the pillows they used to give in airplanes haha but larger), just so you know if you have room to bring your own camping pillow! What was missing during our stay was a small hatchet to make kindling wood because campgrounds usually only provide regular logs. We had to borrow from our camping neighbours. And try to get yourself some newspaper at the stores at the beginning (or being fire starters). FYI, we took a shuttle bus from the Calgary airport to Canmore (Banff explorer / AbestX compagnies). Drop off/pick up was at Northwinds Hotel, and then we walked 35 minutes to get to Jarca’s place and get the van. Jarca was very quick to answer my messages and she was sweet! Last recommendation: bring bear spray or rent a can through Jarca :) Be careful on the trails, never feed animals, pick up your trash/waste everywhere and enjoy the amazing views!!!

The van is exactly as described. A bit old, but reliable to discover the beautiful environment. Jarca and Quentin were very flexible and friendly. The van was equipped with everything we needed to cook on the campgrounds and enjoy our trip!

I would highly recommend renting this wonderful Astro Van if you are looking for a convenient car that is a manageable to drive and also park anywhere that a regular car can park! The bed is extremely comfortable and the mileage you get on a full tank of gas is really good. With this rental we camped for four nights in Jasper, two nights in Banff, and one night in Canmore and it served us wonderfully. It is a perfect home on wheels for one or two people that don’t need a ton of space to do anything besides drive and sleep in the van. The cooking equipment was also great to have. A stove and all the basic material that is necessary went a long way! The cooler in the van allowed us to shop for our food and snacks, and we kept ingredients that we easily cooked amongst beautiful rivers and lakes because everything was so transportable.

This was our first experience with a minivan, and we were complete beginners. We spent 13 excellent days with this vehicle, driving around 1,200 km, mainly through Banff and Peter Lougheed Provincial Parks in Kananaskis, with a short visit to Yoho as well. Communication with Jarka was excellent from start to finish: friendly, responsive, and very efficient. The van is a 2000 model with around 375,000 km, so expectations should be realistic—you cannot expect the comfort or equipment of a newer rental van. Despite its age and a few warning lights that occasionally came on, we always felt safe. It was pleasant to drive and comfortable enough for this kind of trip. We shared a few suggestions with Jarka to improve the comfort, particularly regarding the pillows and some kitchen utensils. With a little more care and attention to the equipment and accessories, the value for money would be truly excellent. We mainly stayed at two campgrounds. Now that we have a better understanding of travelling by minivan, we would probably be more itinerant on our next trip. Overall, an excellent first experience—we would recommend it without hesitation!

Overall a good experience. Jarca, the host, is very friendly and communicative, and check-in and drop-off were very easy. Jarca also let us return the van early and even pick up some items we accidentally left in the van. The van is old and has a few quirks, but was reliable and took us around with no issues. Without A/C it may be hot in the summer or if parked in campsites without trees (e.g., in Jasper), but on cool evenings it was lovely. Face masks are helpful as the van doesn't have perfect sun shades, and if you're tall you'll want to put a suitcase under the end of the bed to prop up the bottom edge. The bed is comfortable, with newer pillows it would be even more comfortable. The steering wheel shakes a tiny amount when braking downhill, but the brakes were reliable and we never felt unsafe.
