The “pop-up trailer” was delivered to Camano Island State Park, as requested, but the trailer did not match the description: 1) the pump In the little sink did not work (so we had to hand-carry water to the sink); the refrigerator did not work on propane (no electricity at this site): the smoke alarm was open and not working. Pary, the owner, did try to compensate for these issues by 1) hooking up an outside hose to the sink—to empty it); 2) brought us an extra ice chest with 2 bags of ice; 3) brought a new smoke alarm to put in the trailer. While we appreciated his efforts to compensate for the problems, but still felt the trailer did not meet our expectations. In addition, there was: 1) no soap or sponge to wash the dishes (we bought our own), 2) no corkscrew, can opener or bottle opener to use with our supplies; 3) no broom or supplies to clean the floor, as requested in his description. 4) no hot pad to use with pans on inside stove. These supplies would have helped us to keep the trailer safe and clean.I read over all the pages Pary printed out for us to sign (Outdoorsy contracts) but found no paragraph that stated what the renter should do if the rental does not meet expectations. The owner did say that we could file a claim with Outdoorsy, which would take several weeks for compensation or accept his cash offer. We took the cash offer, which was most generous from him. I do believe that he (Pary) learned to be better prepared for renters and that a few extra items (soap, dish towel, hot pad, etc) add to a more pleasurable experience.
In the future, I feel that Outdoorsy should add a paragraph for the renter to read, in case the rental does not match the advertisement. That information should state the procedures to file a claim & how that claim is settled.
Thank you, Sharen Metz
