Doug may not be the most beautiful van from the outside, but he's got a fresh new interior with lots of work put into the engine and mechanical components in the last year so you can rest assured she'l get you where you need to be. The interior features a nice deep sink, space heater, two marine batteries, propane stove, plenty of storage, a pop up kitchen table and a wholeee lot of character.
Not to mention, Doug also runs on Propane! This will help you save loads on fuel when driving around a rolling sofa from the 80s. He gets 600-700 kms per fill (roughly $150-180 to fill) and drives like a dream on his brand new tires.Doug has a (almost queen) sized bed that folds out from the couch (which also has 3 seatbelts for passengers), and a high top conversion that stands 6'2 tall so you don't have to crawl around your home on wheels. What's includedDoug comes with utensils, cookware, bedding & linens, and an extreme cool factor.
Additionally, if you intend to go snowboarding/skiing, or surfing, Doug can be equipped with roof mounted ropes to hang up said gear.
He may also be optioned with a 4 bike rack if you so choose.
•200kms/day includedRecommendationsThe Rockies are no stranger to Doug, travelling through Banff, Lake Louise, or making the trek to Jasper are only some of the breathtaking destinations that this bad boy can take you. If you're feeling very adventurous, Doug would even be up to the task to venture from coast to coast, for a second time!Other things to noteBeing 40 years old, Doug does have a few quirks that should be acknowledged. This includes things like a sliding door that can occasionally be tricky, roll up windows that give your arm a slight workout, and a dashboard light that works its hardest but can be tricky to see at times.
Some base rules for Doug:
- No smoking inside Doug
- No Off-roading (Doug is a great highway cruiser but does not do well with harsh roads, trust me, I've tried)
- Dogs are allowed upon special approval

My wife, our infant son and I spent 10 days exploring the Rockies with Doug this summer.
And we absolutely LOVED it! If you look for a spacious and charming van with loads of character, look no further! Jean-Luc is a very nice person an the perfect helpful host!

My boyfriend and I explored Banff and Jasper with Doug - I couldn’t be more pleased with trip! Since he runs on propane, a little extra planning had to be done for filling up the tank. But it was easy to find propane locations where we were in Banff and Jasper. Overall it was a great experience. Jean-luc was very attentive with any questions we had, and was flexible and worked with us when picking up and dropping off Doug.

We had such a blast taking Doug for a week-long trip through Banff and Jasper! We were continually impressed by how well-designed the interior was--it was extremely comfortable and convenient to eat/play/sleep all week long. We were also impressed by how well Doug ran and what great shape he is in for his age! Jean-Luc was a great communicator and so thoughtful. He even got us a bag of local coffee for our trip once he heard we were coffee lovers! 10/10 experience. If we ever road trip through western Canada again we hope Doug is available, and we would recommend him to anyone!
