Caring, responsive, and upgrading

Shiko is described as extremely caring, helpful, and responsive, often communicating promptly. He proactively works on upgrading the vehicle and even reimbursed a customer for issues.

Driving compromised by safety incident

The RV is older (10-20 years) and well-equipped with extras. While mechanically it ran, a tire detached during driving for one renter. Issues included non-working hot water, toilet, outlets, and radio, with pictures sometimes misleading.

Extremely caring and helpful host! The RV is prepared with everything you need for a trip (including helpful extras for camping, cleaning, downtime, etc.). Very thoughtful setup and communication. Just a heads up that the RV is a little older than others may be, so that is the one thing I would let people know to set expectations, but as a family of five that has a truck camper at home and is used to camping, there was plenty for us. And, the owner is consistently working on upgrading things in the off-seasons. Also, the proximity and access to Portland, ME was super helpful versus other options.

Sure, the last review was rugged. But I just rented the same RV, and while it is 20 years old and not perfect, my wife and I used it for a week at a campground in Maine and it was certainly good enough for us. And the 1-star review fella was paid back his money in real-time by Shiko — such a nice and genuinely caring fella who is very responsive and doing his best — via Venmo, so he's being misleading stating he was out more money. (And the spare tire falling off is just bad luck, come on.) If you're grounded and not expecting perfection, Shiko's RV is good enough. If you want perfection ... well, good luck with that with any RV. Nearly all of them — older, newer, or new — have their challenges (RV manufacturers are unscrupulous and basically unregulated); just ask any RV owner (or renter). Simply put: My wife and I had a fine week in the RV. Thanks, Shiko.

Our trip to Acadia National Park was severely impacted by the condition of this RV. The pop-out did not work, there was no hot water, the toilet was clogged, and neither the outlets nor the radio functioned. We had to hire an outside RV maintenance company during our vacation to address the plumbing issues, which cost us time and money we hadn't planned for. Most seriously, a tire came off the underside of the RV while we were driving. This was a significant safety incident that could have had serious consequences. This vehicle should not have been rented out in this condition. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

The host was very nice, but the RV was not up your standards. The water heater was broken( so no hot water), the car radio was broken (so no tunes for the trip)! Mechanically, the RV ran fine, but it is an older model Ford chassis (probably 10+ years old). It was not a value for the money we were charged, but got us everywhere we wanted to go. We learned a valuable lesson on this trip…. Ask a lot more questions about the age of the RV. The pictures looked much better than it actually was. I think the host did the best he could considering the age of the vehicle. Bruce Roach

Very cozy and welcoming and well appointed. We had a great time in this motorhome! The gas cap was a bit tricky but no other issues at all.
