The unit was advertised on Outdoorsy as being to pick up after 5 pm which we planned for after work. We were notified a few days before that this company had pick up available between 8 and 3 and preferred 8 to 12. We rearranged schedules and took time off work to pick up at 8. The company did not charge us an extra day rental which was nice. Upon arrival for pick up at 8:20 due to traffic, we received a text notice saying the unit was not ready due to the seven pin connector being broken and the company would need an hour to repair. An hour and a half later we were notified the camper was available for pick up. Upon arrival a TV was still being installed in the camper. During inspection it was pointed out that there was damage on the left hand side due to a "blow out". The damage included a missing fender and damage to the connector coverings. Inside we were told that several of the blinds were broken (and that replacements were available they just had not had time to install them). The tags on the Florida license plate were expired for two years. The overall condition of the trailer was very poor and it did not at all appear like it did in the pictures on the listing. We accepted the trailer since it was a holiday weekend and we really needed it. The host company did not use the Outdoorsy check out system but both of us took pictures.Upon arriving at home we noticed that the tires on the trailer were different. We then noticed we had not spare tire and contacted the company to determine what had happened. We were told a blow out had happened on the trailers last trip and they took the unit in to be inspected and it was safe to drive even with the spare tire on the axel. (We later received a text message that the unit had been in an accident the same morning we picked it up and was now unavailable but another unit was able to be substituted and then told to ignore that message and continue to work with person who checked us out). The trailer was also not very clean containing random things like rubber bands, glasses, hair ties and other material in storage areas. We complained about the condition of the trailer and worries about safety and were told another unit, without air conditioning, was available if we wanted to drive back 30 minutes out of our way to pick it up the next day. Given our preference to have air conditioning and the inconvenience of the exchange we decided to keep the unit.We encountered the following problems on the trip:
- An alarm kept engaging every time we shut up the windows and vents. We think it might have been the propane alarm so we kept the unit vented. We texted about this issue but received no response. We also limited the use of the propane to only making coffee in the morning due to concerns about the alarm. We could not use the air conditioning because closing vents and windows would cause the alarm to go off.
- We could not use the table because the because the post that was left for us was broken and would not fit into the slot in the floor or the table top.
- We realized in the evening of pick up the floor was damp. The next day at the campsite it was soaked. We ended up having to turn the water supply off and had to use a blanket provided to us to cover the floor and help soak up the water. We texted about this issue and were asked to send pictures and were told the host would troubleshoot but we did not receive any instructions.
- The flood in the floor damaged our groceries stored under the sink so we had to unpack and dry out what we could and throw several items away.
- Turned out ALL the blinds were broken so in addition to not being able to use the air-conditioning, in order to get air into the trailer we had to twist tie the blinds every day to open windows and allow circulation and then undo them at night .
- We decided not to risk using the toilet or shower due to the water issue and relied on bio bags instead.
- The battery in the trailer was bad. Despite being hooked to shore power for over 12 hours it would immediately set off a low battery alarm within 15 minutes after shore power was unplugged. We believe we deserve a substantial refund for this rental. It was the exact opposite of what was advertised and pictured in the listing. Worrying about the safety and condition of the trailer was very stressful during driving over Colorado mountain roads. We could not use most of the amenities of the trailer due to alarms or not working. We feel we spent a lot of gas money to haul a non-working, questionably safe wet box around for four days. The host indicated they would work on processing a refund on Monday, July 7. We have not heard from them and they have not responded to texts.
