We picked up Clifford from Marc at his incredibly convenient location near Liberty Park in Salt Lake City early on a Sunday morning. We spent about 30 minutes chatting with him, learning about Clifford and his quirks, and telling Marc of our plans for our 7 day adventure to the National Parks of Southern Utah. Marc offered some great suggestions (which we ended up finding very useful) and also warned us, that Clifford was a big fan of the right lane on the highway. Yeah... He's not much for power, especially going up hills. Clifford happily tooled along with the trucks. We made it down to Arches and started our adventure. Clifford was perfect for two people. Marc gave us the van with the bed closed up, but after we opened it for the first night, we ended up leaving it in that configuration. The storage underneath is ample and easily accessible from the back and left side. The refrigerator is fantastic (though we did bring along a cooler for ice to fill our water bladders every day) and the slide out kitchen assembly in the back is a great work space. The kitchen especially, but Clifford in general, was a huge conversation starter everywhere we went. We'd break camp early and head out to the parking lot to secure a space at the trailheads before sun up. We'd then pull out the kitchen, open the camp chairs Marc provided and have coffee and a hot breakfast before hiking. We'd use the kitchen again when returning. Everyone (obviously us included) thought the set-up was great. The weather for our week was perfect (but a bit hot) so we only used the awning twice. The set-up and break-down was incredibly easy, especially with two of us.As for sleeping.... I don't know what Marc is using for the mattress, but holy cow, it is awesome! It was so incredibly comfortable that sleeping came easily (okay, yes we were exhausted every day, but still..) and we awoke every morning well rested and ready to go. One thing, though... Marc provides screens for the front doors but we also picked up some large and inexpensive mosquito net type panels and a bunch of magnets so we could cover every opening in the event that we wanted to sleep with them open (which we did) or just hang out inside Clifford lounging and playing cards (which we also did). It was a few dollars well spent.I wish I could comment on Clifford's fuel economy, but honestly, I didn't pay attention to that. We pretty much just filled him up every time we saw a gas station, because they seemed to be few and far between. Either way, it certainly didn't break the bank.Returning to Marc was really easy. Although he had specified a return time in the initial agreement, he was open to changing it to meet our needs. Even though that was totally unnecessary, it was much appreciated! Our experience with Marc, and our time with Clifford was fantastic and incredibly economical! He was easy to drive, easy to park, had comfortable seating and an even more comfortable sleeping arrangement. We can't recommend Marc, Clifford and MicroCamperVans possibly any higher and have already told many many friends, colleagues and random strangers about him!
