The van had not been washed and was very dirty and gooey when we picked it up and we had to spend about 20min wiping everything down. It was hard to see out the windows. These are Covid times and you should not have to do that. The dashboard, console, and cup holders were covered in a sticky substance and the steering wheel was covered with with years of grime. The drivers side window did not work, the owner explained this when we were picking up the van, if we rolled it down most likely we would not be able to roll it back up. The windshield wiper was literally broken in half and flopped all over when you tried to use it and the windshield was scratched. She also told us that the locks were tricky. We had trouble opening the back door throughout the trip. The shocking part is, I received a notice from owner saying she was requesting $150 dollars for a repair to the back door. This Van is not in good shape, its a 1999 Plymouth with over 200k miles on it. If we were not on a short timeline to get to our next destination before sundown we would have declined the van and gone home and grabbed a tent instead. We did not break anything on this Van. It's old, it has a lot of issues, and the owner is dishonest and untrustworthy! Her price was too high for the condition the van was in and now she is demanding more money.

Pros:
The Price and Deposit of the Trip entirely.
Jeny C’s response time was very very good in the beginning, very on top of everything.

Jeny was very responsive to questions. She's the perfect person to rent from. The van was exactly as described.

Pros: Heat worked great, windows tinted (good for anti-theft) water and cooking appliances available. Mattress was comfortable.

The van went really well mechanically, the bed was really comfortable, but I do feel that the interior needs some attention. For the price, it was not so bad. But it felt more like a car with a mattress, than a camper.

Jenny was great and we had a lot of fun with buttercup!

I had a great time with Jeny’s van this past weekend. She was super responsive when had questions and most things worked as expected except the lights (I would advise bringing a camping light if you want to see without a phone flashlight at night). Jeny wasn’t extremely flexible when it came to pick up and drop off times and had great communication. I would definitely rent her van again.

We had an awesome time with Buttercup. Yes, she has many years under her belt, but she was reliable and incredibly comfortable. The design of this camper was perfect, it really felt like we had everything we needed in a portable space. We were able to cook some solid meals and get a good night's rest. The only trouble we had was the lack of AC on the drive, but once we got to our destination, temperature wasn't an issue.
Jeny was also really accommodating when it came to pick up and drop off.
Highly recommend!

Took this van from SF to Yosemite and back in July 2019. Van drives great, and the setup with the bed/ sink/ and stove is really easy and convenient. The AC had a little trouble, but would totally rent this van again, great value! Jeny was easy to reach and communicate with as well! -chris

Jennie was very flexible in terms of returning the vehicle and easy to communicate with. Her vehicle served our purpose for an enjoyable camping experience.

Quirky, hand converted feeling. I loved the handmade touches and the price was definitely the best available. Drives well, no mechanical problems.
Pros: kitchen was stocked with all kinds of helpful supplies - propane was full and the stove worked well - lots of charging ports - lights in helpful places - comfy bed - great privacy.
Cons: No A/C or fan (didn't see until later that people had mentioned it in previous reviews) - couldn't figure out how to get plugs to work when van was off - sink didn't drain - only two front doors functioned properly (you can go IN from the side, but you have to leave by climbing over the seat)
I had a great time and came to really love Buttercup, but I would say anyone who's fussy or has trouble doing some creative thinking to consider renting an different van.

Great experience in this van and with Jeny. She was quick to respond to any of my questions about the van and random requests (like, borrowing 2 towels at the last minute). She was also flexible with pickup and drop off times making it less stressful for us.
My boyfriend and I rented this minivan for a 5 night / 6 day roadtrip from SF to a camping wedding In the woods north of Eureka. It worked out great for us with a couple adjustments. Don’t judge a book by its cover. First impression was “P.O.S” because of the unwashed exterior, ragged ceiling lining, and makeshift Velcro curtains but it became our cozy home within hours and none of that even mattered.
The kitchen has most everything that we needed for our trip. It has a small “refrigerator” that’s more accurately described as a cooler because it didn’t really stay cold on its own. Easy fix-We just put ice in the bottom to keep our perishables from going bad. The kitchen is supplied with 2 cups, a cutting board, sharp knife, cutlery, small bowls, 1 pot and 1 pan and a spatula, but no plates. We added salt and pepper and dish soap for the next travelers! There’s a sink attached to a water tank that works just fine but we didn’t use it all that often because all the campgrounds we stayed at had more powerful spigots to wash the dishes. On that note, there’s also a handheld camping shower included, but we didn’t use because we bathed in rivers! There’s a Coleman 2 burner stove, which we used every morning for breakfast. Jeny supplied 2 canisters of propane and a big box of matches. The stove fit perfectly on top of the small fold up table provided under the bed !
On to the sleeping arrangements... remember to park on flat land! I feel stupid writing that but we forgot to take special notice of that on our first night. Mattress is 3ish inches deep and folds up into thirds. Jeny provides sheets, pillow cases for the 3 small pillows, comforter and small blanket. I slept comfortably most of the time, however, my boyfriend who is 6’2 was too long for the setup. We moved the front seats up and extended the bed and he was mostly good for the rest of the trip :)
Mechanically, the car runs just fine except there was No Working A/C on our trip. This was only a bummer on the last day when we drove through 97 degree wine country.

Not only is this rental a ripoff, but renting from Jeny was a nightmare itself beginning with the day before I arrived to San Francisco to rent the van with terrible communications. I will be disputing the charges for this rental due to how inaccurate the listing is and how Jeny failed to follow the arrangements made through the Outdoorsy platform.

Jeny’s answer

First of all, I had asked you to cancel the trip due to your crazy messages and conspiracy theories. Once I met you in person, my instincts were right and I regretted not canceling on my end. You do not understand how to compromise. I feel bad for your kid who is about to come to the world with a mother like you.
I gave you a ride at the beginning of the booking to meet up with your friend.
1. You left Buttercup with an empty tank of gas with the key still in her and left that in the middle of a crowded gas station instead of waiting to fill out the form with me. I am surprised no one stole her.
2. The sink works.
3. I do not provide propane for the stove. You as the renter are responsible to provide your own tank of propane for the gas stove.

Jeny is an excellent communicator and is keen that you have the best time in her lovely Elsa (that's the Chrysler)! The car is cosy, not new (as the listing states!) but has everything you need (bedding, cutlery, cooking equipment, gas stove) and Jeny is happy to help with questions and quick to reply.

Jeny was amazing! Very attentive and communicative. She was flexible and understanding with the hours of pick up and drop off. The van is old but it works perfectly, we did a round trip from San Francisco to Yosemite and we used it every day inside Yosemite. Never had a single problem.

Jenny is a fantastic person to deal with. The medium of Outdoorsy created a disconnect in pricing and her vehicle based on our research of receipts and previously posted prices. Overall the price we ended up paying was 30$usd/day more then what she listed. Renter beware of outdoorsy, and if someone from outdoorsy could contact us about this, I would appreciate it.
