This has been one of the worst experiences I had while traveling.
This van is in no conditions to be rented, we had got plenty of problems that tarnish our experience and were badly treated by the owner when looked for help:The van sometimes won't start, because of that, the first time it happened we lost half a day trying to get help to jump start it or road assistance to help us. We contacted the owner about that and he told us to "hit it on the start engine with a stick while starting the van". This is no way of dealing with this kind of issue, the owner already knew what was wrong with the van and how to solve the problem but didn't warn us beforehand. After that, every other time the van didn't start we got lucky and a stranger helped us jump starting it, but because of that we were afraid to go very far away from a city, like a national park, just in case the van left us stranded without help on hand.The light of the front panel didn't work, so we couldn't use the van by night, as we couldn't know the speed we would be driving or if maneuvering, the gear we were on, so we couldn't use the van two hours per day. As we asked for a solution to the owner he said to us: "It is an old van, this is normal". And didn't want to deal with it.At some point on the trip, the front left bearing broke down and the van couldn't move. We called (again) road assistance to ask for a lift up to a mechanic. We lost the whole day and half of the next waiting for the repair, we had to sleep on the front door of the garage as the van couldn't move and it was our sleeping facility. There were no toilettes there. We asked road assistance, customer service and the owner for a bed on a hotel and it was denied by all.
This is a very old van and everything on board is very old with poor maintenance. This vehicle is in no condition to be used, much less rented. This was very stressful and our trip was badly impacted with all these problems. We are very disappointed with the service we have received.I warn anyone who wants to rent this van, not to do it, you will regret it.
