Memories made on trips with Rv Rentals Way Of Life Corp's RVs

We booked the most expensive RV available by this host back in May 2023 for a thanksgiving week (8 nights) trip in the Mojave Desert. We were traveling from Oregon to California to spend time with friends and family and would be traveling with our two daughters. All of this was made abundantly clear to the host and that we would be dry camping in the winter for 8 nights. Because we were driving down (16+ hours) we had family that would be meeting them at the entrance to the camp ground to guide them to campsite. Originally discussed meeting at 3 pm. Then the day before it was around 4. Turned out to be just before 5 when it was dark and we were already there. No biggy, but makes it hard to do a proper walk around. We probably would have noticed that all our fresh water was leaking out due to a crack under the RV that they knew about, thought they had patched but didn’t apparently. The RV was not properly cleaned, the bathroom was kind of gross. Night two we woke up freezing. And I mean seeing our breath freezing. Come to find out the batteries would not hold a charge. When the husband went out to start the generator it wouldn’t start. It was out of oil. Thankfully someone in the party had oil to fill it. That’s when we found the leak and realized we were almost out of water and made contact with the owners. They said “oh yeah. There was a crack and I thought we fixed. It must have opened back up” and that was it. Not let me see if I can get someone out there. Nothing. We still had 7 more days left and no water! We were lucky enough to have someone with an extra water tank that filled up our water at 7 pm that night. By 10 am the next morning we were out of water again. And we spent another night freezing. That is when my husband called again and told them to just pick up the trailer. We would figure something else out. They didn’t want to do that. Instead they said they would give our trailer to another customer with the offer that it was an upgrade and give her a free night, and bring us out the one she had rented. It was smaller but had solar so we shouldn’t have the battery issues. What?!? No refund on the price difference, nothing. Oh and… this one is listed at $150/night with a 5% discount if you book 7 or more nights. We booked 8. They charged us $161.50/night??? Where’s that 5% discount or hell at least the $150/night? They said they would have the new trailer, that’s listed at $130/night but lucky us we get to pay $161.50/night, out to us that afternoon. It didn’t show up until almost 6 pm. And it had a leaky bathroom sink. So we still had water issues. It was cleaner, but we still had to fill the fresh water. We lost an entire day of riding waiting around with all our stuff sitting in the sand because we couldn’t get an actual ETA from them and left a day earlier than planned. I have request approximately $576 out of the $2600+ I paid to be refunded which I think is more than fair. The difference in the advertised price and what I was actually charged, the difference in price for the new trailer, refund on taxes for the price difference, refund for two days (one being without water and one having to wait around all day for them to show up with the new trailer). Not to mention what it cost to refill the fresh water twice. I have yet to hear back on wether or not they will give the refund. The RV was also in rougher shape than the pictures let on. The lining was peeling off the walls or ripped. And one of the windows was broken and covered with packing tape. The replacement RV, the bathroom door is impossible to close without serious force.

Rv Rentals Way Of Life’s answer

We do apologize for Christina and her family not having a good experience in the Passport. This is not the normal experience for our renters. Water usage, generator fuel usage and battery usage in between running the generator all have to be monitored while dry camping in freezing conditions. However we still went above and beyond to do a tailer swap for her and they still weren't satisfied. We tried our best.

Trailer was not completely ready for use.
House battery was dead, had to plug it it to go through systems. We were dry camping and I was told the battery would charge enough there was not a solar system on trip. Battery did not hold a charge..

We do apologize for for the issues encountered on your trip. This trailer has had many successful rentals and successful reviews. We do our best to ensure everything is in working condition before trips and everything is tested and demonstrated at checkout. Things do happen and we do our best to make it right. We apologize that our attempts to make it right with this customer were not good enough. It seemed nothing would have satisfied. All noted issues have been repaired and this trailer is back to operational status with happy customers. Customer service and quality is our #1 priority and we continue to strive to meet that mark. Please feel free to ask us about any continued concerns if you are considering renting with us.

Olivia & Wes were great and their trailer worked out perfectly! It was a little odd that the Outdoorsy host is not the actual owner of the trailer, but he was very communicative and helpful!

The trailer was in great condition. We had a small issue with the fridge that the owner addressed immediately. Great rental!

Mike was very organized and made pickup and drop-off a breeze. The trailer was everything we could have wanted for our trip. We didn’t have hook-ups at our campsite, but the fresh water was enough for dishwashing and toilet use for 3 nights. The solar was great and kept the battery charged without the need for a generator since we didn’t use the microwave or A/C. We would definitely rent Mike’s trailer again.

Mike was a great host. He was attentive and kind and helped in any way that he could. The trailer was very clean and comfortable for my family of 5 with more room to spare. I would highly recommend to rent from him.
