We loved our first camping van experience. Our hosts were very communicative and hospitable. The van had everything you needed for a fun camping experience. The bed was so comfortable and the cozy blankets kept us warm in the cold nights in
Yosemite National park. Highly recommend the airport pick-up/drop off option. Look forward to renting Bessie in the future.

Hosts:
Richard was extremely responsive throughout the booking process and the weeks leading up to our trip. Even after a flight delay kept us from arriving on the correct day, he showed tremendous flexibility and worked with us to save our trip.
This responsiveness continued as we contacted him with a few questions during the first half of our travels. He always demonstrated kindness and was extremely helpful.
If you're new to renting vehicles this way, he is certainly the archetype you want for a host.Interior:
The van is designed and engineered with thoughtfulness and creativity. The layout maximizes space and efficiency without sacrificing amenities that are usually found in the most expensive camper vans. There was plenty of space for our belongings, and we could also move around without any trouble. Also, because of the solar panels, you'll never be the person at camp drowning out the beautiful sound of a stream bc you won't need a generator.
The burners boil water in about five minutes, and we had plenty of space without ever setting up the table. We also found the bed to be extremely comfortable and well-maintained. There was also care taken with the aestetic of the interior. A pleasant green decor with orange accents shows the amount of time that went into making this closer to a home than a vehicle.
Driving:
We averaged about 100 miles per day for eleven days, and most of it was on steep, winding roads including Mineral King Road in Sequoia National Park. Some offered little more than a single lane, but the handling of the van is tuned for situations like this. Other than a single section of a tumultuous road about an hour north of Yosemite, Bessie was up for everything we threw at her. We also drove through Fresno to pick up groceries and had no worries about merging off of highways or navigating city driving. I found the fuel efficiency to be better than expected, and every fuel station we stopped at had diesel available.
Overall:
We plan on returning to Yosemite and Sequoia, and we can only hope Richard is still renting Bessie when we do. He has raised our expectations of other hosts, and Bessie has raised the bar for what we can expect for a camper van.

Richard was a very good host, and easy to work with when we picked up the trailer and also when we dropped it off. The accommodations were very adequate for our trip.

Bessie was an awesome vehicle for our 5 day trip into Yosemite. This was our first rental and we would rent again. It was so nice to have something small enough to park in normal parking and easy to drive. It felt spacious enough for 2 when making meals and sleeping. We had no problem exploring the whole park in this vehicle. We enjoyed ability to easily pack up and go since we did not have the same campsite each night during our stay. Richard was super responsive to any questions we had. Highly recommend!

Second time renting Bessie and she is amazing! As are her caretakers. Richard and Daryl are warm, welcoming and extremely organized and take meticulous care of this beautiful girl! Can't wait to rent Bessie again!
