About Sharon/Robert's RV rentals

A little about Sharon and Robert Merrell. We've lived in College Station, Texas for 27 years. Bob retired in 2010 due to health problems and I retired in 2016. In 2017, we decided to buy a little TT (26 ft) to see how we liked RVing. Found out we loved it. We had an opportunity later that same year to be work campers in Galveston, TX, so, we traded up for a bigger TT (33 ft). I love the beach so I thought we were living the life. However, as life will do...we got a curve ball and hubby needed knew replacement in both knees. We really wanted to go full time, so sure that we could manage even with health problems. We traded up again to a new 2017 Forest River, Georgetown XL and sold our home. So after a year and a half, we have agreed that it is just too hard. Now, we are in the rental phase with this RV. It's clean and comfortable. With that said...people who take on an RV, no matter the type, need to know what they are doing. We try to go over everything with you, but some knowledge is a must. Always happy to answer any questions.

Sharon was able to accommodate our quick decision to go on a trip. We drove from Houston to Durango CO and the RV handled well in the mountains and on the highway.

Sharon was wonderful, extremely helpful during our trip trouble shooting and will definitely rent from her again. Sharon pointed out cracks in floor tiles, a crack in plastic fridge drawers and plastic screen door shield and damage to front seat covers was waiting on replacements to arrive for repairs to be made. There appears to have been prior water damage to wood above large slide and corner molding should be better attached as it is loose which we did not notice until we were driving to our destination as it is so minor. The only items to be replaced are the drain cover for shower as it was bent and didn’t fit properly and one of the strainers for kitchen sink was missing. Otherwise RV is beautiful on inside. There were scratches on exterior paint on left and right sides at back end of RV which owner was aware of and plans to get repaired .

Vickie and Carl were good reenters and we appreciate the condition our RV was returned in. In response to Vickie's review, I'd like for any future renters to know that doing maintenance on a rental Motor Home is always a work in progress. Our seat covers have been on order since December. The hairline cracks in the tile flooring are just that. The shower drain has already been repaired and I didn't realize there was only one sink strainer, but have taken care of that. The prior water damage that was referred to was not a water damage at all, but the abuse the "wood" took while working on the cable for that slide out. Yes, there are two scratches on each side of the outside rear of the MH. One happened the day we delivered to Vickie at the place where we have it washed which is scheduled for repair. The other one, I took out my neighbors mailbox. LOL. It's a scratch. It's not always possible for people to see our RV in advance, but if you're local and want to, I'm always happy to show it. This RV and the owners made our family trip a dream when it was close to a nightmare. I'd planned a trip to visit my nephew with his mom, dad and granny and last minute other RV owner backed out due to damaged RV previous renter. I was in a bind and last minute was able to secure RV from Sharon and Bob. They and the RV were magnificent, accommodating, knowledgeable and available for questions at all times. I appreciate them, their Rv and can't wait to take another trip!

We put roughly 2,300 miles on the Merrell’s RV over the past 10 days. Sharon was extremely helpful anytime we had a question! The RV is beautiful and very comfortable. There’s a king bed in master, twin above driver/passenger chairs and dinette makes in to a bed (for a child). The L shape sofa is very comfortable but doesn’t make in to a bed. There is a large full bath in back with double vanities and a half bath midship. There’s 3 TV’s (cabin, master and outside). There is also a full size frig and freezer with dispenser which is nice. Highly recommend!

Do not recommend booking from Sharon. If you do, make sure to include at least $250 on top of your booking price just for cleaning, as Sharon is counting on that income and will charge you even after you clean the RV.In addition, Sharon will charge you for anything and everything that she wants after you will return the RV. Even for things that is normal wear and tear. During our trip, a latch inside the door in the RV stopped working, trapping my family in RV for hours. After the trip Sharon charged us additional $488 for this (pictures of the broken latch attached). I would never have expected to pay for a broken hotel room lock, or a door that failed to operate properly in a rental car, so please be aware that regular courtesy rules do not apply with Sharon. The door handle was already taped up when we got the RV so she used us renting it as an excuse for someone else to pay for it.Do yourself a favor and rent from a host that treats this as a business and cares, not like Sharon who makes up reasons to charge you. If you do, take a ton of photos when you get the RV and right before returning it. Also, budget 30%-40% on top of your booking price for hidden expenses after the trip. This was not our first RV rental but definitely the worst, Sharon ruined RV renting experience for our family.

If a renter returns a unit and states that it’s clean...to me that means I could send it out on another rental the next day if I had to. That was not the case.What Simon is referring to as the “taped” latch is merely the screen door. The contract plainly states that if you, the renter, breaks something, you fix it. His total amount due was $738. $250 door latch, $130 Labor, $250 wash, $100 time & labor...I had to wipe down the inside where water stains were all over counter and stainless fridge. Two trips to rv place to order and P/U latch. Time over to Pitt Stop for washing. I didn’t charge him for mileage overage $55.80, or for the new sewer cap that was broke. They called complaining about kitchen & 1/2 bath sinks stopped up but he didn’t mention that the front gray tank wasn’t emptied and he says that’s my fault. RVing is not easy. You must be willing to study, pay attention on hand-off and realize things can go wrong. READ YOUR CONTRACT! Unfortunately, we are now in mediation. In 8 rentals this has been our only issue. And, I hate it for all.

Nice people, nice unit makes it all feel like a family favor rather than a business transaction. Nothing beats a vacation in a motorhome, especially with the COVID life complications
