Your Favorite 10 Posts from 2023

It’s always nice taking a beat to celebrate some fun stuff from the old year now that we’ve rolled into a new one. And on that note, we did some crowdsourcing of sorts to see the Outdoorsy content that was your favorite in 2023.

We’ve got some nifty tools up here that show us how many eyeballs our blog posts get. And we used those tools to figure out your top 10 favorite posts on our Never Idle Blog. We figured it’d be fun to share a quick blurb about each of these so you can dig into our most popular content from last year:

1. The 10 Best Campervans With a Bathroom

Campervans with bathrooms saw heavy demand this year because of the convenience and nimbleness they offer. That’s why we wrote up this article with all the best ones out there.

It’s cool seeing the craftiness of makers like Airstream, Winnebago, Leisure Travel Vans, and more who pack a serious punch into these campervan spaces.

2. The 10 Best Small Toy Hauler RVs

Toy hauler RVs feature a small garage built into the camper for ‘toys’ like dirt bikes, motorcycles, and ATV’s. The toy zone also usually doubles as a nifty patio once you’ve made camp.

What could be better than combining camping with access to ATV trails, dirt bike paths, and scenic motorcycle byways?

But, toy hauler RVs can be exceptionally heavy, often requiring heavy-duty tow vehicles. Not so with these 10 best small toy hauler RVs that pack all the same fun into a rig towable by properly equipped light-duty vehicles.

3. The Best Off-Road Trailers of 2023

Overlanding is a type of RVing that sees folks going way off the beaten path to places where roads barely roam.

This requires a rugged level of camper that’s able to take the punishment. As a reward, off-road campers provide access to spectacular seclusion that few people experience.

The beauty of 2023’s best off-road trailers is that most of them can be towed by common rigs like Jeeps, SUVs, and pickups. Just be sure your tow vehicle has a standard off-road package!

4. Outdoorsy Gets Into Glamping

Stays is our new platform offering affordable outdoor accommodations like Yurts, tiny homes, cabins, geodesic domes, and luxury tents. Glamping is a way to get more Outdoorsy while still getting hotel-like amenities.

We wrote this article unpacking Stays and you all dug it. It breaks out the different types of glamping, shows you how to filter for the stay type you want, and what to pack when you glamp.

5. Twelve Dog Friendly National Parks

Thirty-seven percent of guests on our website are hunting for pet-friendly rigs, so it’s little wonder that our 12 dog-friendly national parks post was a hit.

Navigating national parks with Fido (or Freya) can be tricky without proper planning and prep. Our article shows you exactly what to consider at each of these parks and features nearby pet-friendly rigs for rent.

6. Our Favorite RV Rentals for 2023

This blog post was such a major hit that we’ll surely make it an annual tradition. We crunched numbers on reviews and bookings to figure out our fan-favorite rigs in each region of the U.S.

Check out all our favorite rentals and try one near you.

7. Outdoorsy Goes Campgrounding

We opened two campgrounds last year — one near Durango and the other outside Yosemite.

The one near Durango is called Outdoorsy Bayfield and it’s a cozy RV resort on the Pine River in SW Colorado. Along with RV sites, it also features glamping options in our luxury safari tents

Outdoorsy Yosemite is the other one featuring woodsy RV sites, cabins, and lake life — all minutes away from Yosemite National Park.

We wrote this article to tell all about these campgrounds and you all clicked away (thanks for that, BTW 🙂.

8. Road Ready Recipes

Articles like Fall RV Camping Recipes to Keep You Cozy were uber-popular with you this year.

We kept ‘em coming with other additions like 5 Different Ways to Make S’mores and 15 All-American Recipes for Fourth of July Campfire Cooking.

That’s why campfire cooking is a topic we plan to keep rolling out into the new year.

Here are all the recipe-ready rigs for rent near you

9. Thousand Trails: RV Resorts from Sea to Shining Sea

Thousand Trails is a campground network with some of the awesomest spots to park your rig that we’ve ever seen.

We wrote this blog post about our favorite Thousand Trails campgrounds in every region and the interweb ate it up.

10. Outdoorsy’s Guide to Stargazing

What could be better than combining RVing with awe-inducing galaxy-gazing? That’s why we had tons of fun writing this number about RVing and stargazing.

To even better equip telescope toters, we also published The Ultimate Guide to Viewing the Milky Way and The Best Road Trip Spots for Stargazers.

Based on the number of eyes on that content, we’d say celestial viewing is something everyone ought to try.

We hope you had as much fun reading this list as we did putting it together. Cheers to what this new year has in store for us!

Josh and his wife gallivanted all over the country in an '88 Airstream for 4+ years of full-time RVing. They made an unexpected pitstop in Montana in 2020 and haven't left since. That's because they got hooked on the glamping resort they run by Glacier National Park. Fittingly, they keep up their RVing love by renting out vintage Airstreams and other retro RVs to travelers hitting Montana.
