I am writing to formally raise significant concerns regarding the condition of the travel van I recently rented through Outdoorsy. Unfortunately, numerous serious deficiencies with the vehicle negatively impacted what was intended to be an important family trip.Between April 11th and April 27th, my wife and I traveled over 4,000 miles from San Antonio to the Seattle area and back. During this journey, we encountered multiple issues that should have been addressed prior to any rental:
• Sanitation: The portable toilet had not been emptied or sanitized, making it unusable due to the severe odor.
• Structural Integrity: The rooftop pop-up would not close properly. Additionally, detached weather stripping allowed for extreme wind and road noise inside the vehicle, forcing us to shout to communicate at normal highway speeds.
• Safety Concern: A cable was hanging down over the gas and brake pedals, posing a safety hazard that I had to temporarily secure with duct tape.
• Interior Functionality: Pull-out drawers failed to stay closed during travel, and the stove top cover rattled incessantly without makeshift stabilization.The vehicle’s condition not only fell well below reasonable expectations but also raised serious safety concerns. Given the circumstances, I respectfully request that Outdoorsy consider the following:
1. A fair and meaningful adjustment to the rental charges in recognition of the vehicle’s condition and the resulting impact on our trip.
2. A formal response outlining the steps Outdoorsy plans to take to address vehicle inspection and readiness processes to help prevent similar customer experiences in the future.

I’ll start with the positive. The sprinter van came as expected with regard to what was included. It drove well, and our family of 4 made some great memories. Our kids loved sleeping in the pop-up top. They were also quick to respond to questions and communicated well. That being said, we paid extra for early pickup, and while the host was there on time, there was A LOT broken in the sprinter van. This required in the moment “fixing”, putting us quite a bit behind schedule. The ladder to the top bed was broken, which they taped together and told our kids “to just not use the bottom steps.” The table was broken (and filthy but they cleaned it when pointed out) and had to be bungee corded to the drivers seat to stay up while we were driving. One of the batteries was bad which required a 30 minute delay to get a new one put in. And none of the plug in outlets or the a/c panel in the back worked for the trip. While they did try to give us solutions, the only real fix was going to require us to go under the sprinter van, which we were not comfortable doing. The back bed does not lock in and has a one-two inch ledge that it rests on, so if you even barely move during the night, it will collapse. It was very clear that the van had not been inspected before our arrival to make sure it was “trip ready” which is frustrating when there is a mandatory $125 prep fee. SO overall, we made the most of the van. But for over $2k for less than a week long trip, I expected everything to be in working and clean order. (That $2k does include our choice to do the unlimited miles). I’d give them another chance, because stuff happens and their communication was good, but they really need to have their stuff in safe-working order at time of pickup.

Very good communication throughout even though we had an issue with the leveling jacks, but they did what they could to make things right which was much appreciated. RV was solid otherwise. Impressed by the bathroom size, water pressure, and hot water.
