I’ve rented through outdoorsy from a variety of hosts about 8 times and had 4 and 5 star experiences with each (either because the host was great, or the trailer was great, or both). This experience was really bad:1. The black tank was not properly prepped. Upon taking possession of the trailer and inspecting the toilet, I noticed extreme odor indicating that it did not have the proper deodorizer or the correct pre-use fluid. Waste deposited throughout the booking dried in the tank and although I dumped and flushed the tank for over 10 minutes, not everything came out and I am being charged for not properly using/dumping the black tank.2. The storage area was extremely dirty and not suitable for me to put my own stuff in. I removed everything, vacuumed and degreased the space, and then put everything back.3. The inside of the camper was also extremely dirty. My wife and I spent a total of about 10 hours cleaning the unit before we used it. We filled our Dyson canister vac 3 times getting out sand, dirt, and hair. We also used two canisters of Clorox wipes, turning each wipe to a shade of black or brown before moving on to the next wipe. The air conditioning register and filter were extremely dirty. I disassembled it and cleaned it. The stove top edges and cracks were full of food debris. The pantry shelves had lots of dirt and sand on them, too. The back of the TV was covered in greasy dust and looked like it had never been cleaned. There were coffee cup rings on the mantle above the fireplace. Many owner installed amenities were held on by blue poster puddy which was full of hair and other debris. There was a random sock under one of the couch cushions.4. The bedroom door was missing and this was not shared in the advertisement.5. The “amenities” provided by the host went beyond what I would deem as reasonable. I think plates and bowls, silverware, a few board games, a bag of hot chocolate packets, a couple of cleaning items, toilet paper and paper towels, or similar items are reasonable. This unit included items like a small remnant of aluminum foil no longer in the box, an open and spilling bag of drinking straws that have surely been handled by other people, small quantities of paper plates or foam coffee cups or solid cups in random places without and packaging keeping them clean and other items that I would ultimate define as trash.I would not recommend renting this unit. I think they count on the prior user to clean it and don’t actually really clean it themselves. It felt like it was lived in.
