Protection Packages for Owners

We get that renting out your RV can be both an exciting and scary decision — that’s why we go above and beyond to give you maximum peace of mind when you share your rig with the world.

From our $500,000 liability policy to our comprehensive collision coverage, we’ve revolutionized insurance options to keep you covered when you rent with Outdoorsy.

Will my personal RV insurance cover me during the rental period?

Generally, no. We offer industry-leading insurance for the rental period in part because your personal insurance will almost never cover you for an RV rental.

Also, your personal insurance probably doesn’t allow you to rent your RV out on Outdoorsy. If they learn that you are renting they might deny your claims or even drop your coverage entirely. To ensure you have the right coverage, we’ve partnered with Roamly Insurance. Roamly’s policies uniquely allow renting on Outdoorsy and can be up to 25% less expensive than your current policy. Visit Roamly to get a free RV insurance quote.

Who provides Outdoorsy’s insurance during the rental period?

Our liability insurance is provided by Assurant*, one of the largest insurance providers in the world.

For any damage to your rig, Outdoorsy provides direct coverage to you as an owner, backed by Lloyd’s of London.

Insurance Overview

Outdoorsy’s insurance protection program covers you, your vehicle, and every approved renter in the case of any covered incidents. You can find the full policy details for owners here and for renters here.

Our insurance protection plans feature tiered deductibles depending on the value of the rented vehicle. The renter is responsible for the deductible, which can range from $500 to $1,500 on the Physical Damage and Comprehensive & Collision coverages in the event of a damage claim. The deductible is the responsibility of the renter.

Our insurance is embedded in the rental process with no additional premiums or monthly fees for owners.

What RVs are covered?

Owners who list their vehicles on the Outdoorsy platform can apply for vehicle protection through the listing tool. If your vehicle is approved, it would qualify as a covered vehicle provided that the vehicle is properly maintained as described and required in the Outdoorsy Terms of Service. Please note that any motorized unit or trailer with a salvage-title history does not qualify for coverage. If you have an older vehicle, know that Outdoorsy is the only major RV rental platform that covers vehicles older than 15 years for both Physical Damage and Liability. Vehicles registered in the state of New York do not qualify.

Please note that any vehicle not meeting consistent safety verification standards outlined by Outdoorsy’s vehicle certification requirements and terms will be disqualified as a covered vehicle.

When does Outdoorsy’s insurance begin and end?

Outdoorsy offers episodic insurance, meaning that coverage lasts for the duration of the rental period that your renter books on our platform.

Coverage for renters goes in force when you hand the keys to an approved driver and ends when that driver hands you the keys back at the end of the rental period or drops the vehicle and keys off at an agreed location.

For owners, Outdoorsy is thrilled to be the only RV marketplace to offer insurance coverage while you’re delivering your rig to your renters.

What are Outdoorsy’s insurance protection packages?

We offer three different levels of insurance so renters can choose the most suitable level of protection for their needs.

No matter which of the three insurance packages you choose, Outdoorsy offers up to $500,000 in liability coverage and up to $300,000 in comprehensive and collision coverage.

Roadside Assistance is also offered on all purchased Outdoorsy Protection Packages as a courtesy to our renters.
